LIMA — Monday was the first official day on the job for Timothy A. Rehner as he became the new dean and director at the Ohio State University-Lima.

Prior to coming to OSU, Rehner held a distinguished professorship and was the director of the School of Social Work and director of Caribbean Studies at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Before leaving Mississippi, Rehner was selected for a Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Association of Social Workers-Mississippi Chapter for his 25-plus years at the Southern Miss School of Social Work and his impact on communities throughout Mississippi.

Rehner earned his bachelor’s degree from Asbury College, a master’s in social work from Indiana University, Indianapolis, and a doctorate from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.

His home academic area in Lima will be the College of Social Work. Rehner replaces interim dean Joseph Brandesky, who led the campus since Charlene Gilbert became dean of the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Toledo in July 2017.
