LIMA — Six months after starting the project, Ray Magnus and Sam McLean’s 318 Restaurant located at 318 N. Main St. held its official grand opening celebration Friday.
Over 30 community members attended the official grand opening of the new sports bar and restaurant on Main Street Friday.
“This was an investment on a building that was probably going to be tore down,” said McLean. “We went to work and got local contractors, which was one of the easiest things to do because we knew that we would get everything done on time. We are definitely proud that it was all local.”
The new sports bar offers an internet jukebox, a gas fireplace, a dozen televisions which display sports and news and several sit-down dining options which include the bar, the central dining room space and the back patio.
The menu includes burgers, salads, chicken, pretzels, onion rings, wings and more.
“Our menu is kind of limited,” said McLean. “We did that for a reason because I wanted it to be very good for everyone and so we could expand at a later day. It doesn’t have steak or seafood, but as we get more staff, we will expand more. Although our menu is limited, customers can expect to eat excellent-quality food.”
Magnus and McLean purchased the former Main Street Irish Pub in March as a way to revive the downtown area.
“We want everyone to come here and feel comfortable, which is how I run my business, and that’s how Sam and I are going to run this one,” said Magnus. “We are proud to be able to help the downtown Lima develop more, and hopefully this will spur more development in downtown Lima and get more people involved.”
318 Restaurant general manager Christina Rolsten said she is also happy about the new opportunity and looks forward to serving the community.
“I’m really excited for this opportunity, and I just want great things for this place and we’re going to make that happen,” said Rolsten.
