LIMA — In an effort to help promote positivity and community pride within Lima, the Lima Young Professionals are hosting a Love Lima Week through Saturday.
Two years ago, Lima YP revived Love Lima as a way to put an end to the negative comments made about city.
“There is so much negativity about Lima and there are people who complain about there not being anything to do here,” said Alexa Miller, Lima YP President. “So the YPs wanted to come together and planned different events throughout the week to help showcase that Lima is a good place to live.”
Praise Day was the first event to kick off the Love Lima Week. On Sunday, pastors of Lima-area churches were encouraged to wear their Love Lima shirts, post pictures, mention Lima in their sermon and to pray over the city.
On Monday morning, the Lima YP hosted a community breakfast with various service clubs to showcase the work of all of those clubs and their plans for the future.
“This morning was great because we got to hear all the positive things going on in this area and share some positivity for an hour,” said Miller.
A Family Game Night will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Alter Ego Comics, 230 N. Main St. There will be a variety of different games for all ages and free popcorn.
“We want to bring people of different backgrounds together for mingling and networking,” said Miller. “We just want to come together as one.”
There will be a Professional Development Day from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hermon Woodlands, 485 N. Wapakoneta Road. Lunch will be free for Lima YPs and $10 for the public.
“I think that our parks are something that people in this area forget about or are unfamiliar with so we wanted to highlight that,” said Miller.
From 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Lima YP will be hosting its monthly Pub Club at the Lima Locos baseball game at Simmons Field. Admission is $10, which includes food and drinks.
The Lima Young Professionals is inviting the community to come out to Rally in the Square at 6:30 p.m. Friday to network and listen to some live band performances.
On Saturday, the final day of the Love Lima Week, the Lima YP is encouraging community members to go to local businesses and post pictures on social media using hastag #lovelima.
