Roses and Thorns

Everything is coming up roses this week.

Rose: To a pair of Lima News readers whose ideas will be featured in the nationally syndicated Pluggers cartoon this week. Jeff Monfort, of Mendon, offered an idea for Wednesday with the caption, “If your first tablet was an Etch A Sketch, you’re a plugger.” Denny Ricker, of Columbus Grove, will have his idea shared on Thursday: “A plugger knows that a wide tie can hide any accidental food spot on his new shirt.”

Rose: To the nine students and three staff members at Lima Central Catholic, who donated 8-plus inches of hair each to Children With Hair Loss during the recent Positive Addiction Week. The staff at What a Tease Salon in Elida donated their time as well. Children With Hair Loss creates free human hair replacements for children who have medically-related hair loss.

Rose: To watchful residents and law enforcement in Auglaize County, who helped locate and arrest escaped jail inmate Brendan Reed on Sunday morning. A caller noticed a man wearing a yellow jumpsuit in a neighbor’s backyard.

Rose: To The Undertaker, a bull raised by Cornwell Bucking Bulls in Lima. It’s one of the top bulls used at the PBR World Finals in Fort Worth, Texas.

Rose: To Fricker’s franchise owners Travis Lawson and Scott Neth, who opened their wing shop on Allentown Road in Lima this week. We wish this and all new business ventures well in the region.
