Logoplaste set to begin production

LIMA — Now located in Lima, Logoplaste is a global manufacturer of rigid plastic packaging solutions. The company was founded in Portugal in 1976 and has since expanded to operate in more than 30 countries across four continents.

Lima plant manager Tony Klopfenstein said, “Of all the plants I’ve started, Lima has probably one of the best workforces. There are a lot of good people who come to work every day. It’s been a blessing in disguise coming here and hiring people we have.”

Mandy Adkins, human resources business manager, said, “There’s a lot of diversity and there are a lot of people in the area which makes it a lot easier for us to find someone, but sometimes you find people that have that eagerness to learn but they may not have the computer skills. So if it’s something that we see potential, I can teach you how to make bottles.”

The case for making bottles using recycled materials is absolutely clear: it reduces the need for virgin, fossil-fuel-based raw materials; it saves energy; it diverts waste from landfills; and it reduces the carbon footprint. Using recycled plastic resins, instead of virgin resin, to manufacture new plastic packaging is critical to reducing the amount of carbon consumed and the amount of plastic in the environment.

“Sustainability is a big part of our company,” Klopfenstein said. “We strive for zero waste. It is a big part of our process.”

The plant runs about 40 thousand bottles in a 12-hour period so in a day there will be somewhere over 80 thousand bottles produced by one line. There are currently three lines in operation. There is also a planned expansion to increase warehouse space. An additional ten jobs will be hired bringing the total number of employees to 60.

The plant is to launch full-scale, 24/7 production on April 3.

Logoplaste is known for its innovative packaging designs and its focus on sustainability, with a commitment to reducing waste and increasing the use of recycled materials in its products. The Lima plant works closely with Proctor & Gamble to develop custom packaging solutions that meet their specific needs and requirements.
