Allen County hosts Ohio GOP chairman

LIMA — The Ohio Republican Party is hoping to signal the start of something new. The Allen County Republican Party met for its monthly luncheon Friday afternoon. The newly appointed Ohio Republican Party Chairman Alex Triantafilou joined the party to speak about the future.

According to Allen County Republican Party Chairman Keith Cheney, Triantafilou served as the Republican chairman for Hamilton County for over a decade. Cheney also said the Cincinnati native graduated from the University of Cincinnati and a Juris Doctorate (or law degree) from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law in Kentucky. Triantafilou replaced the previous Ohio Republican Party Chairman Bob Paduchik.

While at the luncheon, Triantafilou shared upcoming plans for the party. He said he wants to focus on a new vision including raising money, creating a platform and early voting.

“Raising money will allow us to do the programs that we want to touch every corner of this state,” said Triantafilou. “To have the kind of workers and infrastructure in this state that can help us deliver the votes. We are developing a strong platform. Chairman Paduchik before me developed a platform committee. We are going to continue working on that committee with great leaders like Tony Schroeder and others to deliver to Ohio and others a document that says this is what we stand for.”

“We really want to get Republicans focused on early voting,” said Triantafilou. “We get beat in the early votes.”

He also encouraged the party to vote in the primaries and select a representative for the U.S. Senate seat for Ohio. In 2024, Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) will be up for re-election. Triantafilou hopes to replace the senator with a Republican candidate.

”Ohio has a chance to make a big difference nationally,” said Triantafilou. “In 2024, in the United States of America, we have three (Republican) senators running in states where Donald Trump won. Those states are Ohio, West Virginia and Montana.”

Cheney said Triantafilou ‘came at the right time’ for the party.
