Three injured in hit-and-run crash in Putnam County

PUTNAM COUNTY — Three people were hurt in a crash at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5 in Monterey Township, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

At the intersection of U.S. 224 and state Route 66, a Nissan hatchback struck a Kia SUV carrying a driver and two passengers who were then transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center because of their injuries.

The driver and occupants of the Nissan fled the scene and have not been located, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The incident remains under investigation and alcohol is believed to be a factor.
