Roses and Thorns

There’s a chill in the air, but it doesn’t stop the roses from popping up this week.

Roses: To Lima natives Tyler Ulis and Tre Cobbs, who’ve each landed on the coaching staffs of major Division I colleges as graduate assistants. Ulis is at Kentucky, while Cobbs is at Memphis.

Rose: To Lt. Carl Nesbitt, a Lima Central High School graduate and a World War II pilot whose remains were recovered in Germany. His family can finally find rest in knowing where he is. He made the ultimate sacrifice for his country.

Thorn: To Anthony Randall, who was sentenced to six years in prison for the attempted rape of a woman last February.

Thorn: For the case of Kevin Stahr, who was again found incompetent to stand trial for the attempted murder and felonious assault of his mother and her boyfriend in June 2021. Court documents show he’s autistic and schizophrenic. It’s sad to see this case pop up annually awaiting the restoration of his competency.
