St. Marys teen driving SUV kills pedestrian

ST. MARYS — The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported at about 5 a.m. Sunday morning that a fatal crash killed a pedestrian just north of St. Marys.

Landon R. Plattner, 17, of St. Marys was traveling north on Lambert Road north of U.S. 33 driving a 2017 GMC Acadia SUV when his vehicle struck and Sandra K. Wills, 38, also of St. Marys.

Wills was pronounced dead on the scene when assistance arrived at about 12:16 a.m. She was transported to Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys. The damaged SUV was disabled and had to be towed.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by the St. Marys Fire Department and EMS, St. Marys Police Department, the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office, Assistant Coroner Steve Steinecker, and Tom’s Towing.

Wills’ next of kin has been notified and the crash remains under investigation.
