June 27

Putnam County Prosecutor Gary L. Lammers was granted a request seeking the appointment of a special prosecutor “in a matter under investigation for alleged criminal violations of law against an employee of Putnam County, Ohio.”

Ohio Auditor Assistant Chief Legal Counsel Robert Smith, Auditor Assistant Legal Counsel Samuel Kirk, and Thomas Anger, were appointed as special prosecuting attorneys for Putnam County to prosecute the within action.

Sophia S. Chamberlin, 36, Findlay, was sentenced to 92 days in jail for attempted aggravated possession of drugs. She was given credit for 92 days served and was released from custody June 27. All drugs seized from this arrest were ordered to be destroyed.

June 28

James R. Reynolds, 43, Fort Jennings, was sentenced to 17 months in prison for attempted escape (amended) and 180 days in jail for domestic violence. He was given credit for 301 days served and 180 days jail for the domestic violence charge. He is currently on post release control from Paulding County. The court terminated his post release control. The sentence was ordered consecutive to his Paulding County case. He also must pay restitution in the amount of $447 to the Fort Jennings Police Department.

Putnam County Municipal Court dispositions

June 21

Luke R. Schmersal, 24, Ottawa, pleaded guilty to failure to comply. Sentence: 180 days jail, 178 days suspended, $500 fine. He was also fined $500 for no motorcycle endorsement. Charges of turn signal, traffic control device, expired plates, reckless operation, and speeding were dismissed.

Jose E. Garcia, 36, Ottawa, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of disorderly conduct. Sentence: $150 fine.

Arthur R. Hohenbrink, 67, Ottawa, pleaded no contest to domestic violence and was found guilty. Sentence: 30 days jail, 29 days suspended, $150 fine and complete assessment at Pathways Counseling Center.

Lance M. Baker, 33, Columbus Grove, pleaded guilty to domestic violence. Sentence: 180 days jail, 175 days suspended, $250 fine.

Traffic

June 23

Derek T. Combs, 23, Toledo, pleaded guilty to OVI second offense, sentenced to 180 days jail, $1,000 fine, two-year license suspension, complete drug and alcohol assessment, with credit for six days jail upon completion of DIP, must serve 10 days consecutive. Charges of driving under FRA/non-compliance, lights on required and unauthorized use of a vehicle were dismissed.

Rodney A. Schnipke, 54, Cloverdale, pleaded no contest to discharge firearm on prohibited premises. Sentence: 10 days jail, suspended, $250 fine. He was also fined $150 for driving with expired license.

Hailey E. Gray, 20, Bryan, charged with tampering with evidence, receiving stolen property, firearms in motor vehicle and drug abuse/possession, all felonies, bound over to common pleas court.

Sheri A. Lester, 46, Hamler, pleaded no contest to driving without a valid license. Sentence: 180 days jail, 140 days suspended, $100 fine, suspended.

June 27

Steven R. Cramer, 54, Ottawa, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of criminal mischief. Sentence: 60 days jail, 59 days suspended, $150 fine and complete a mental health assessment. Charges of assault and menacing were dismissed.

June 28

Taylor C. Petush, 27, Bryan, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of no operator’s license. Sentence: $100 fine.
