Shawnee started its game against Elida with a 20-5 run in the first 5 1/2 minutes on its way to a 60-46 win in girls basketball on Thursday night.

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Shawnee’s 60-46 girls basketball win over Elida in the Western Buckeye League opener for both teams on Thursday night was a classic case of the final score being closer than the game actually was.

ELIDA – The first game of the Tip Off Classic on Friday night at the Elida Fieldhouse was a one-sided 53-31 win by LCC, and it appeared the second game might be headed in the same direction when Elida built a 17-point lead halfway through the second quarter of its game against Shawnee.

BLUFFTON — Top-seeded Shawnee claimed the Division II volleyball district with a 25-11, 25-12, 25-12 victory Thursday night against Liberty-Benton at Bluffton University’s Sommer Center.
