Lima Senior

Division: I

Coach: Quincey Simpson (eighth season)

2020-21 overall record: 20-4.

2020-21 league record: 6-1 (tied for first)

2021 postseason finish: Lost 56-44 to Cleveland St. Ignatius in regional finals.

Returning 2020-21 varsity letter winners: Khalil Luster (Sr.), Jareon Mayo (Sr.), Camren Miles (Sr.), Anthony Mosley (Jr.), Quintel Wilson (Sr.), Shalom Stout (Jr.), Cecil Benton (Sr.), Brent Moss (Sr.), Tyrese Austin (Sr.)

Others that may start season on varsity roster: Brian Hines (Sr.), Jagger Hutchins (Fr.), Brandon Moore (Jr.), Amarion Glenn (Jr.)

Coach’s analysis: This is by far the most depth we’ve had in eight seasons. The ending could be very special if everyone buys in, embraces roles and accepts tough coaching.

NWCC

Hardin Northern

Division: IV

Coach: Jared Thomas (sixth season)

2020-21 overall record: 14-10

2020-21 league record: 5-3 (fourth)

2021 postseason finish: Lost 72-35 to Tiffin Calvert in sectional finals.

Returning 2020-21 varsity letter winners: Nevin Robson (Sr.), Zeb Wilson (Jr.), Kobee Hooker (Sr.).

Others on varsity roster: Jonah Diller (Sr.), Connor Curtis (Jr.), Colby Curtis (Jr.), Preston Wykes (Jr.), Aiden Gatchell (Sr.), Zac Kurtz (Sr.), Cooper Thomas (Soph.) , Carter Curtis (Soph.) , Sean Kuhlman (Soph.) .

Coach’s analysis: Polar Bears will be rebuilding this year after a strong group of seniors have left Hardin Northern. There will be lots of new faces gaining valuable experience. Robson and Wilson will be the primary leaders this season as the younger more athletic Polar Bears look to continue improving on their team defensive statistics.

Perry

Division: IV

Coach: Clay Tucker (first season)

2020-21 overall record: 18-5

2020-21 league record: 8-0 (first)

Others on varsity roster: Ethan Jarrell (Sr.), Kameron Moore (Jr.), Elijah Caudill (Jr.), Jamarion Byrd (Soph.)

Coach’s analysis: To maintain a tradition that keeps Perry atop of the NWCC. To play a high tempo game that keeps opponents guessing at all times.

Ridgemont

Division: IV

Coach: Nick Stuck (14th season)

2020-21 overall record: 14-10

2020-21 league record: 4-4 (fifth)

2021 postseason finish: Lost 74-36 to Minster in sectional finals.

Returning 2020-21 varsity letter winners: Landon Newland (Sr.), Mason Stuck (Sr.), Grant Reppart (Sr.), Lane Underwood (Sr.), Colten Whitaker (Sr.), Wes McKinley (Jr.), Wade Gamble (Jr.)

Others on varsity roster: Xavier Stuck (Fr.), Connor Manns (Fr.), Donovan Brose (Jr.), Kevin Eckstein (Jr.), Kolton Manns (Fr.)

Coach’s analysis: Our season will hinge on two things. Will our upperclassmen actually do upperclassman things like play with maturity and poise? If they do, that will be huge. The other thing is we need other guys to step up. Everyone knows Mason and Landon. Will anyone else be able to step up? If these two things occur for us, then we will have a very good season.

Temple Christian

Division: IV

Others likely to make varsity roster: Christian McCleese (Jr.)

Coach’s analysis: We are counting on a large group of lettermen to provide the leadership, teamwork and hard work that we will need to increase our success. Our goal is to get better each day, enjoy the process and be playing our best basketball at the end of the year.

Upper Scioto Valley

Division: IV

Coach: Dre White (first season)

2020-21 overall record: 12-11

2020-21 league record: 6-2 (tied for second)

2021 postseason finish: Lost 52-50 to Spencerville in sectional semifinals.

Others on varsity roster: Maddox Underwood (Fr.), Chandler Leonard (Sr.), Blaine Castle (Jr.), Abraham Decker (Jr.), Tommy Carl (Jr.)

Coach’s analysis: It will take us some time to learn and adjust to a new system and style of play, both offensively and defensively. We return a strong nucleus of guys with varsity experience. These five seniors and seven lettermen will be asked to provide a great deal of the leadership and help with this transition. We hope to focus on the process of getting a little better each day and maximize the potential of a very promising group of young men.

Waynesfield-Goshen

Division: IV

Coach: Nathan Swaney (third season)

2020-21 overall record: 5-16

Coach’s analysis: We have four returning starters back for this year so we are going to rely heavily on their experience from last season. Our depth will be much improved and will look to play eight to 10 guys a night. Our goal is to use our team speed and athleticism to create opportunities for us to be successful and competitive each and every night.
