Area high school football teams make the playoffs

COLUMBUS – Lima and the surrounding area will be well-represented in the postseason.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association has released the pairings for the first round of the football playoffs, with 448 schools qualifying for the 50th annual postseason tournament.

Despite winning three games and losing its final five, Lima Senior was a 15th seed and will be traveling to Kings Mills King, a No. 2 seed with an unbeaten 10-0 mark in the Division II, region 8 bracket.

In Division III, Region 12, both St. Marys and Wapakoneta secured home games. The Roughriders face a familiar foe in Franklin and Wapakoneta plays host to Dayton Dunbar.

Shawnee will be hitting the road and traveling to take on Cincinnati Hughes.

Van Wert finished as a No. 3 seed and will take on Rossford at home in Division IV

In Division V, Ottawa-Glandorf garnered a first-round home game as a No. 5 seed and will take on Doylestown Chippewa. WBL rival Bath, an 11 seed, makes the short trek north, to face Liberty-Benton.

Columbus Grove , after completing an undefeated year, captured a No. 4 seed and will stay home to take on Toledo Ottawa-Hills. The team Columbus Grove beat Friday, Bluffton, enters the playoffs as a No. 11 seed and go to Liberty Center for its first round game.

Allen East captured a No. 2 seed and will be hosting its first playoff game against New Paris National Trail in Division VI and NWC rival Delphos Jefferson, despite its three wins, made the postseason and will face Coldwater.

In Division VII, Region 26, Lima Central Catholic, a No. 3 seed, will have a rematch against Crestview, who the T-Birds beat in the playoffs last year. Leipsic will also be staying at home after garnering a No. 5 seed and they will face Ayersville. Hardin Northern was a 16th seed and will head to Hopewell Loudon in the first round and also traveling will be Spencerville, a 15th seed, taking on Edon.

Also in Division VII. there will be a Northwest Central Conference rematch will happen when Upper Scioto Valley, winners of the conference, face Lima Perry who is making its fourth straight trip to the postseason.

Divisions I, II, III and IV play on Friday nights, while Divisions V, VI and VII play on Saturday nights. All playoff games begin at 7 p.m. The first and second round games are hosted by the better seeded team. Neutral sites will be used beginning with the third round (regional semifinals).
