COLUMBUS — The Ohio High School Athletic Association released the first official weekly football computer ratings Tuesday. The weekly computer ratings will be released every Tuesday leading up to the final report Sunday, Oct. 24, when 448 schools (top 16 in each region) will officially qualify for the playoffs.
Area teams among the top 16 in each’s respective region include:
In Division II, Region 8, Lima Senior (2-1) is seventh.
In Division III, Region 12, Shawnee (4-0) is third, 8.55, Wapakoneta (2-2) is ninth, 4.7, St. Marys (2-2) is 11th, and Elida (2-2) is 14th.
In Division IV, Region 14, Van Wert (4-0) is first.
In Division V, Region 18, Bath (3-1) is seventh and Ottawa-Glandorf (2-2) is eighth.
In Division VI, Region 22, Columbus Grove (4-0) is fourth and 6.4, Bluffton (3-1) is 11th. In D-VI, Region 24, Coldwater (4-0) is first, Allen East (3-1) is third, Fort Recovery (2-2) is 1oth and Delphos Jefferson (2-2) 2.5076 is 11th.
In Division VII, Region 26, Lima Central Catholic (3-1) is second, 5.2, Hardin Northern (3-1) is fifth, Upper Scioto Valley (3-1) is sixth, Crestview (3-1) is ninth and Spencerville (2-2) Waynesfield-Goshen (3-1) Leipsic (2-2) Pandora-Gilboa (2-2) and Ada (1-3) are 11th through 15th respectively. In D-VII, Region 28, Marion Local (4-0) is first, New Bremen (3-1) is fifth and St. Henry (2-2) is tied with Fort Loramie (2-2) for 14th.
ELIDA — Columbus Grove’s Roy Langhals, Carson Closson, Trent Koch, Caleb Morman, Cal Stechschulte, Bryce Bonifas, Luke Ellerbrock, Tayden Pingle and Logan Mershman finished third through 11th place respectively as the Bulldogs secured the boys team title with 20 points followed by Ottawa-Glandorf (106), Lincolnview (122), Bath (138), Delphos St. John’s (149), Kenton (156), Allen East (168) and Defiance (173). Van Wert secured ninth by having the higher finishing sixth runner after tying Elida at 197 each.
Perry’s Braden Yingst was the race winner in 17 minutes, 4.2 second with Allen East’s Hunter Sidle finishing second in 17:27.5.
In the girls event, Ottawa-Glandorf, led by race winner Alexa Fortman (20:44.3) won the team title with a score of 51 followed by Defiance (61), Delphos St. John’s (63), Lincolnview (107), Kenton (119), Van Wert (145), Columbus Grove (159) and Elida (188).
Defiance’s Layla Briseno (21:48) was second. O-G’s Madelyn Hovest, Elida’s Emily Durham, DSJ’s Brezlynn Rohr, Kenton’s Kylie Allmon, Lincolnview’s Julia Stetler, DSJ’s Ava Milligan and Olivia Bockey and Bath’s Kyla Fallis finished third through 10th respectively.
NWC tri match
LIMA — Allen East (160) had the low team score followed by Bluffton (167) and Leipsic (176) at par 36 Hidden Creek.
Medalist Zach Miller (37), Cameron Hedrick (39), Noah Brown (42) and Elijah Lawrence (42) combined for the winning total. Bluffton’s Kenny Lovett (40) and Leipsic’s Mason Brandt and Adam Lammers (43 each) had the low rounds for their teams.

OTTAWA — Co-medalist Trey Sautter (40), Nick Wolverton (43), Noah Macke (44) and Taylor Schroeder (48) combined for the winning total at par 36 Pike Run. Miller City’s Dillon Peck was co-medalist with a 40.

OTTAWA — Co-medalists Ryan Klausing and Connor Nortker (42 each), Ethan Warnecke (43) and Brandt Brinkman (47) combined for the winning total at par 36 Moose Landing.
Celina (192) had the low team total against St. Henry (207) and Fort Recovery (213).
Medalist Grace Romer (38), Maddie Fleck (47), Sara Tester (52) and Ashtyn Huber (55) combined for the winning team total. Fort Recovery’s Jalynn Bruns (39) and St. Henry’s Audrey Wendel and Dana Rindler (50 each) had the low rounds for their schools.
Jordan Hemmelgarn (39), Grace Buschur (40), Lindsey Finke (44) and Laney Finke (45) combined for new nine-hole girls school record at The Oaks (par 36). Shawnee’s Madi Paphanchith was medalist with a 37.
CELINA — Emily Clutter led Parkway with a 54 at par 36 Celina Lynx.
Jake Miller had two goals and an assist, Connor Neidemire, Austin Miller, Noah Scheid, Ethan Parlapiano, Anthony Best and Austin Rosebeck each had a single tally and Best, Collin Scheid, Matteo Fusillo and Alex McGuire each had an assist. Shawnee prevented Defiance from getting any shots on goal.
St. Marys 1
Ottawa-Glandorf’s Alex Macke and Mike Evers and St. Marys’ Wyatt Chapman each had a goal. Austin Birkemeier had two assists and Jordan Schroeder had an assist for O-G and St. Marys’ Easton Craft had an assist. O-G goalie Dylan Birkemeier made seven saves.

VAN BUREN — Nolan Hoffman had two goals, Jude Spallinger had a single tally, Ethan Oglesbee and Kaden Basil each had an assist and Kyle Basil had a pair of saves for Bluffton.

ANGOLA, Ind. —The Ohio Northern men’s golf team finished third of three teams at the Trine (Ind.) Ken Venturi Invitational on Tuesday at the Zoellner Golf Course.
Trine won the team standings with a 203, Bluffton was second with 212 and Ohio Northern (7-9-1 overall) was third with a 214.
The teams competed with three pairings of golfers, who each played six holes of scramble, six holes of best ball and six holes of alternate shot in their 18-hole rounds.
Ohio Northern’s Andrew Slusher and Austin White fired a 3-under par 68 on the 6384-yard course. Bluffton’s Spencer Daniels and Hunter Jolliff, an Elida graduate, were one shot higher.
Findlay finishes 6th
CARMEL, Ind. — The University of Findlay opened its fall campaign with a sixth-place finish at the UIndy Fall Invitational at Prairie View Golf Clu. The Oilers finished the three-round tournament with a 54-hole score of 922 (+58).
Leading the Oilers were Danbi Kim and St. Marys graduate Jill Schmitmeyer. Kim ended the tournament in a tie for 14th place after posting a 13-over par score of 229 (78, 77, 74) while Schmitmeyer tied for 18th with a 14-over par score of 230 (77, 76, 77).
Lima Central Catholic grad Mary Kelly Mulcahy tied for 22nd with a score of 232 (78, 72, 82) and LCC alum Erin Mulcahy tied for 45th with a 242 (82, 80, 80).
