Allen County: The Allen County Archers hold 3-D shoots the first Saturday and Sunday of each month through September. It is open to all equipment. They are also holding traditional 3-D shoots on the third Saturday of the month all year long. They are open to all archery equipment. Lima: Registration is underway for bus trips to Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds home games. The Indians home game will be against the Reds at 6:10 p.m. Saturday, May 8, and the Reds home game against Detroit is at 7:10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4. The cost of the Indians game is $80 and $75 for the Reds game. Each trip includes a game ticket, round trip transportation, sandwiches and snacks. All beverages will be $1.50. Delphos: The 11th annual Nathan Miller Memorial Tournament will be June 4, 5 and 6 at the Delphos Stadium Park. The tournament is a 16-20 team tournament for boys 11-12 years old (age cutoff is March 1). The tournament will be pool play with a three-game guarantee. Lima: Those who have stiffness and chronic pain keeping them from enjoying everyday activities may want to enlist the MELT Method, which can even enhance athletic performance by preventing injury and enhancing post-workout recovery. MELT is a simple self-treatment technique that can be done at home to get out of and stay out of chronic pain in as little as 10 minutes a day. The four-week MELT hand/foot session held at 2 p.m. Tuesdays started April 6 and the four-week MELT roller session at 2 p.m. Thursdays began April 8 at the Lima Family YMCA (345 S. Elizabeth St.). Van Wert: Van Wert Parks & Recreation will be holding a catfish tournament from 7 a.m. until noon May 22. This is a payout tournament with first place receiving $500, second place $300 and third place $100. The big fish payout will be $100. Participants are welcome to fish on either reservoir from the bank shore with boats being limited to the southern reservoir. Boats are only permitted to use a trolling motor while on the water. No gas- or diesel-powered motors are permitted while fishing on city reservoirs. All boats must be an Ohio registered watercraft and all participants must have an active fishing license through the state of Ohio. A maximum of two competitors are permitted per boat, while bank shore participants are limited to one. Entry fees are $50 per boat and $25 per bank competitor. Lima: Ohio Golf Concepts will offer free golf instructions for young golfers entering grades 6, 7 and 8 at Tamarac Golf Club beginning June 4.

The program will be offered each Friday in June and July from 9 a.m. to noon. It is open to boys and girls with total of 40 participants. Golfers should have their own golf clubs.

Topics to be covered include golf rules and etiquette, the golf swing, putting, short irons and chipping, driver and fairway wo0ds. Golfers will be able to get on the course and the driving range during the program.

Lima: The Family YMCA is offering American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification classes. The certification class consists of classroom learning time and pool sessions for skill development. All of the water and safety skills are practiced and reviewed in the classroom and in the pool. At the end of the program, participants complete a written exam and a practical skills exam to complete their Red Cross Lifeguarding certification. After completing lifeguard training, certification will be valid for two years. To participate in the program, participants must complete a swimming pre-screen ability test, and all participants must be at least 15 years old before the last day of the course. Class 2 will be from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from May 3-20 with the CPR & First Aid class from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15. Lima: Power Elite & Super Hooligan motorcycle racing is scheduled to be held beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Allen County Fairgrounds, 2750 Harding Highway. Pit gates open at 8 a.m. with signups from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., practice at 11 a.m. and heats at 1 p.m. with main events to follow. Costs include pit gate fee ($20), amateur registry ($40), Power Elite Class ($50) and Money Class ($50). Tickets will be $20 for adults, $10 for youngsters 6-17 with those ages 5 and younger getting in free. A family pack of four (two adults and two youngsters) is $40. Lima: The Lima Family YMCA is now a home to a USA swim team. USA Swimming is the national governing body for competitive competition in the United States. The program will allow those of any level additional opportunities to swim at some of the best Ohio facilties. Those ages 5-19 are eligible to compete. Practices are held from 5-6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Family YMCA located at 345 S.
