Roundup: Columbus Grove boys win invitational team title

AYERSVILLE — The Columbus Grove boys won Saturday’s Diller Invitational track and field meet team title.

Grove finished with 140.33 points with Minster (128.33) finishing second.

Lawson Maag (discus), Zeke Halker (high jump), Jon Banal (110 and 300 hurdles) and Carson Closson (800) won individual events for CG. Minster’s Bryan Falk won the long jump, 100 and 400. Continental’s Isaac Gibbs won the shot put.

Grove also won the 3,200 relay (Closson, Trent Koch, Caleb Morman and Caleb Stechschulte) and the 4oo relay (Banal, Halker, Jacksen Schroeder and Gabe Clement).

Hardin Northern Invitational

DOLA — Arlington won the team title with 114 points followed by Riverdale (108), Leipsic (105), Hardin Northern (81), Vanlue (70), Upper Scioto Valley (54), Ada (48), Calvary Christian (34), Pandora-Gilboa (22) and Cory-Rawson (12).

USV’s Zach Britton won the 800 and 1,600. Ada’s Jackson Brown (110 hurdles), Leipsic’s Gabe Jimenez (400), USV’s Joe Parker (3,200), Leipsic’s Ethan Lammers (high jump) and Hardin Northern’s Wesley Newton (pole vault) also won individual events. Hardin Northern won the 3,200 relay. Relay members’ names were not reported.

Girls track & field

Hardin Northern Invitational

DOLA — Leipsic won the team title with 168.5 points followed by Riverdale (146), Ada (88.5), Pandora-Gilboa (70.5), Vanlue (57), Arlington (39.5), Calvary Christian (29), Cory-Rawson (20), Hardin Northern (19) and Upper Scioto Valley (11).

Leipsic’s Peyton Heitmeyer was first in the 200, 400 and long jump and teammate Lola Wensink won the 1,600 and 3,200 runs. Ella Rigel (discus), Marissa Hermiller (high jump), Sara Cupp (shot put) and Reece Dulle (pole vault) also won events for Leipsic. Pandora-Gilboa’s Taelor Miller won the 800.

Diller Invitational

AYERSVILLE — Minster (113 points) finished second behind Liberty Center (124).

Minster’s Jenna Heuker won the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles and Paulding’s Claire Schweller won the pole vault.

Minster’s Margaret Hemmelgarn, Ella Boate, Taylor Roth and Chaney Cedarleaf teamed up to win the 3,200 relay.

MILLER CITY — Dillon Peck had two hits, including a double, and an RBI and Caleb Giesken had a hit and an RBI for Miller City. Carter Duling had two hits, including a double, and an RBI, Trevor Schimmoeller had a hit and an RBI and Carter Schimmoeller had a double and an RBI for O-G.

Southview 0

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Winning pitcher Logan Maxwell and Derrick Rhodes combined to allow four hits and three walks while striking out five in five innings. Maxwell had two hits, including a double, and an RBI, Sage Ebling had two hits and an RBI, Keaton Cooper had a double and two RBI, Caden Vermillion had two hits and an RBI, Jarin Bertke had a hit and two RBI and Derrick Lyons had a hit and two RBI.

MIDDLE POINT — Winning pitcher Collin Overholt allowed three hits and no walks while striking out seven in seven innings. Landon Price had three hits, Dane Ebel had three hits, including a double, and two RBI and Brandon Renner had a double and two RBI also for the Lancers.

PERRY TOWNSHIP — Brady Shively had two hits and two stolen bases for Perry.

PERRY TOWNSHIP — Ryan Yingst homered and had three RBI and JT Taviano and Joey Hoersten had two hits each for Perry.

BATH TOWNSHIP — Lex Boedicker had a hit and an RBI and Cade Price doubled for Bath.

Parkway 6, Celina 4

ROCKFORD — Dylan Hughes had two doubles and two RBI and Chaz Neuenschwander had a hit and two RBI for Parkway. Quinn Andrew had three hits and an RBI and Quade Gilmore had two hits and an RBI for Celina.

Lance Kisseberth had two hits, including a home run, and Matthew White had a pair of hits for C-R.

COLDWATER — Winning pitcher Marcel Blasingame allowed no runs and three hits while striking out one in four innings. Zack McKibben had five hits also for the Cavaliers, who also defeated Bryan 8-6 to go to 11-4 on the season.
