Lima Central Catholic Grad Emily Sreenan Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS — University of Dayton junior and Lima Central Catholic graduate Emily Sreenan has been named All-Academic for the 2020 NCAA Division I Cross Country season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and have either qualified for the national championship meet or finished top-5 at their respective conference championship.

Sreenan, a secondary Catholic religious education major, finished in fourth place at the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship race in 17:24.9, which is fifth-best all-time at UD. She earned Atlantic 10 All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season.

RICHMOND, Ind. - With a goal and an assist in Defiance College’s 2-0 victory Wedneday against the Earlham Quakers, senior Jarren Casto broke the school record for career points with 47.

The Celina graduate passed the mark of 46 points set by Nick Kleptz, who played for the Yellow Jackets from 2014-17. Casto is second all-time in assists with 13 and tied for fourth in goals with 17.

SEMINOLE, Fla. — Allie Wilson and Tianna Thompson each had a hit for Wapakoneta, which also tied travel team the Space Coast Titans 2-2. Wilson had two hits, including a double, and Madison Doseck and Taylor West each doubled also for Wapak, which will continue its Florida tour today and Saturday.

Cook resigns

ADA — Jon Cook has submitted his resignation as Ada’s boys varsity basketball coach after one season in his second stint in the position with the Bulldogs, who went 3-19 overall and 1-7 in the Northwest Conference in 2020-21.

The Paulding meet against Ottoville and Fort Jennings is now scheduled for April 22.
