Girls basketball: Kalida defeats Leipsic in Putnam encounter

LEIPSIC — Grace Klausing had 14 points, six rebounds and four steals and Brenna Smith scored 12 as Kalida (14-5) defeated Leipsic 46-39 to move ot 5-1 in the Putnam County League girls basketball standings.

The Wildcats outscored the host Vikings 26-19 in the first half.

Liz Scheckelhoff and Whitney Langhals each had nine points for Leipsic (13-9, 3-4 PCL). Scheckelhoff also had eight rebounds.

Columbus Grove 47,

Arlington 21

COLUMBUS GROVE — The host Bulldogs (13-7) outscored the Red Devils 16-6 in the second quarter and then 17-5 in the fourth period. Kenzie King had 16 points, five assists and seven steals and Erin Downing scored seven, had seven rebounds and finished with five steals for Grove.

New Knoxville 66,

Delphos St. John’s 57

DELPHOS — Ellie Gabel (20), Avery Henschen (18) and Carsyn Henschen (13) each scored in double digits for the visiting Rangers (17-3, 6-2 Midwest Athletic Conference). Melanie Koenig had 23 points and Paige Gaynier scored 21 for DSJ (9-8, 3-5 MAC).

Cory-Rawson 52,

Hardin Northern 21

DOLA — Cory-Rawson (14-6) held a 30-11 lead at halftime. Zoe Chisholm had 13 points and Mackenzie Cascaden scored 11 for C-R. Bella Wilson had six points and Aliya Obenour and Maddie Grappy each scored five for Hardin Northern.

Miller City 62, Bluffton 51

MILLER CITY — The host Wildcats held a 38-19 advantage at halftime. Abi Lammers (23), Natalie Koenig (17) and Grace Pfau (12) each scored in double digits for Miller City (12-8). Kylie Stackhouse had 20 points and Laykin Garmatter scored 12 for the Pirates (11-10).

Ottoville 59, Defiance 19

OTTOVILLE — The host Big Green owned a 26-7 lead at halftime. Nicole Knippen had 19 points and Tori Thomas scored 11 for Ottoville (13-7).

Continental 43,

Pandora-Gilboa 30

PANDORA — The Pirates (6-12, 2-4 PCL) went from being ahead 5-3 at the end of the first quarter to a 20-10 halftime advantage. Lacie Fenstermaker had 13 points and 15 rebounds and Lexie Neuenschwander scored seven and finished with four steals for P-G (2-17, 0-6 PCL). Continental’s individual scoring was not reported by deadline.

Van Wert 42, Parkway 29

VAN WERT — The Cougars bounced back from a 19-12 halftime deficit. Kyra Welch had 10 points and Jaylyn Rickard scored eight for Van Wert (7-9). Gabrielle Stober had eight points and Paige Williamson scored six for Parkway (8-11).

Upper Scioto Valley 20

MCGUFFEY — Graesan Evans had nine points and seven rebounds and Patiance Cole scored eight for USV (2-16).
