LAKEWOOD – Lakewood St. Edward knocked off Lima Senior 70-56 in a non-league boys basketball game Friday night at Lakewood.
Lima Senior, which defeated Clay on Tuesday after an 18-day layoff, is 9-2.
The Spartans had won five in a row.

Ridgemont 67, Temple Christian 42
LIMA – Ridgemont knocked off Temple Christian at Temple.
Temple is 1-14, 1-5 in the Northwest Central Conference. Ridgemont is 10-6, 3-3 in the NWCC.
Jordan Streets paced Ridgemont with 21 points. Landon Newland scored 16. Mason Struck had 12.
Landon Callahan led the Pioneers with 20 points. Preston Patrick added 12 points.

BATH TOWNSHIP – Bath notched a Western Buckeye League win over Wapakoneta at Bath.

Bradyn Fleharty led Bath with 20 points. Jonah Wauben scored 14. Ian Armentrout had nine.
Zach Rogers and Garrett Siefing both had 10 points for Wapak.

VAN WERT – Van Wert’s Owen Treece tossed in 32 points to help knock off Kenton in a Western Buckeye League game at Van Wert.
Treece canned three 3-pointers and was 9 of 9 at the foul line.
Ethan Brown scored 13 for the Cougars.
Jake Eversole led Kenton with 16 points.
Van Wert is 3-9, 1-4 in the WBL. Kenton is 0-10, 0-4.

BLUFFTON – Columbus Grove pulled away from Bluffton in a Northwest Conference game at Bluffton.
Blake Reynolds led Grove with 16 points. Tayt Birnesser scored 14. Gabe Clement had 14.
Trey Sautter scored 10 for the Bulldogs.
Trenton Donley led the Pirates with 20 points. Nic Essinger and Nate Schaadt both scored 10.
Grove is 11-1, 5-0 in the NWC. Bluffton is 6-9, 1-5.

ROCKFORD – Parkway’s Dylan Hughes cleared the 1,000-point mark in a win over New Knoxville in a Midwest Athletic Conference game at Parkway.
Parkway is 6-8, 3-3 in the MAC. New Knoxville is 5-10, 1-5.

RAWSON – Cory-Rawson notched a win over Arcadia at Cory-Rawson.
Grant Bacon led the Hornets with 19 points.

MINSTER – Minster ran past St. Henry in a Midwest Athletic Conference game at Minster.

Minster was led by Johnny Nixon’s 24 points and seven rebounds. He hit 11 of 14 from the field.
Justin Nixon scored 15, with eight rebounds and six assists. Eric Schmidt scored eight.
Bennett Gels had 14 points for St. Henry. Logan Lefeld scored 10.

HARROD – Spencerville notched a Northwest Conference win over Allen East at Allen East.

Bradden Crumrine had 18 for Allen East. Gabe Criblez had 18.

MILLER CITY – Miller City picked up a win over Fort Jennings in a low-scoring Putnam County League game at Miller City.
Miller City is 6-11, 2-3 in the PCL. Fort Jennings is 3-10, 1-3 in the PCL.
Thomas Weis led Miller City with 11 points and three 3-pointers. T.J. Michel scored 10.
Zach Schulte led the Musketeers with 12 points. Jon Grote scored 10.
Miller City won the boards, 29-20.

Upper Scioto Valley 61, Elgin 51
MARION – Upper Scioto Valley notched a Northwest Central Conference win over Elgin at Marion.
Connor Sanders led the Rams with 21 points and seven rebounds. Jackson Rohrs had 15 points and six rebounds. Kaden Hurley had 12 points.
Drew Stephens had nine points for USV.
USV is 8-6, 5-2 in the NWCC. Elgin is 7-9, 1-5.
LCC Thunderbird Invitational
LIMA – Blanchester held the first-day lead at the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbird Invitational at Herr Gymnasium.
The 29-team tournament, which includes teams from all over Ohio, wraps up today at LCC.
Blanchester has 47.5 points to lead the way. Wayne Trace is second (46).
Coldwater is third (39), while Allen East is fourth (36).
Columbus Grove is eighth (31). Shawnee is 10th (27.5). Crestview is 12th (26), while Spencerville is 13th (20.5).
Ottawa-Glandorf is 15th (19). Bluffton is 16th (16).
Delphos St. John’s is 18th (14.5). Lincolnview is 21st (10).
The tournament has 20 wrestlers who were state qualifiers last year, including LCC’s Gavin Caprella (113) and Allen East’s Chase Miller (160).
Wrestling begins at 9:30 a.m. today.
The championship finals will be close to 3 p.m. today.
Bluffton 85, Manchester 68
NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – Bluffton’s Brianna Gillig (New Riegel) broke the women’s basketball school record with 41 points in a victory over Manchester at Manchester.
Gillig’s 41 points easily broke the single-game school record of 33 set by Laurie Blough (1975-76), Cheryl Althaus (1980-81) and Jen Baer (2000-01).
Gillig had 11 points in the first quarter and 23 at the half. She also finished with 10 rebounds.
Bluffton stands 11-1. Manchester is 1-10, 0-5 against Bluffton.
Bluffton’s Emma Saltzman scored 12 with seven rebounds and two blocks. Maddie Fitzpatrick scored 11.
Bluffton shot 53 percent from the field.
Otterbein 73, Ohio Northern 48
COLUMBUS – Otterbein’s Angelia Jackson and Katie McCrary both scored 19 points to overpower Ohio Northern at Otterbein’s Rike Center.
ONU is 1-2, 1-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Otterbein is 2-1, 2-1.
Sydney Ward led the Polar Bears with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Otterbein shot 47 percent from the field and held ONU to 25 percent shooting.
Otterbein led 35-26 at the half.
The two teams will play again today at 6 p.m. at the ONU Sports Center.
Bluffton 76, Manchester 66
BLUFFTON — Bluffton University kept its perfect record intact. The Beavers held the Spartans to a season low in scoring.
Bluffton moved to 8-0, while Manchester dropped to 2-4. The eight wins marks the best start to a season in men’s basketball history and it ranks third all-time to the 11 consecutive wins at any point in a season by the 2005-06 squad and the 2006-07 team.
Jameel Cosby led the way for the Beavers with 21 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Teammate Marcus Peaks scored a career high with 12. Dezman Brown went for 13 and he led the Beavers with eight rebounds.
The Beavers shot 45.5 percent (10-of-22) from beyond the arc, while holding Manchester to 7-of-24 (29.2 percent). Bluffton won the rebounding battle by 11 (41-30) and bench scoring (27-7).
