Lima Central Catholic High School is pleased to announce the naming of the basketball court of the Monsignor E.C. Herr Gymnasium to the “Bob Seggerson Court” in recognition of the school’s retired long-time boys basketball coach, teacher, guidance counselor, and life-long supporter of the Lima area basketball.
Seggerson amassed 519 wins in 32 seasons as head coach of the Thunderbirds, only two of which ended with a losing record. He led the LCC program to six appearances at the state basketball tournament, culminating with the 2010 Division III state championship, the first state championship for boys basketball in Lima. The state championship game was Coach Seggerson’s final coaching appearance as he retired directly after the big win.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions this season, the school plans to dedicate the court formally next season, when the Lima community can gather to celebrate and honor the career of Bob Seggerson at Lima Central Catholic.
