Roundup: Bluffton converts school record 25 3-pointers

BLUFFTON – Bluffton set a boys basketball school record with 25 3-pointers in a 101-46 boys basketball steamrolling of Cory-Rawson Saturday night at Bluffton.

Bluffton’s Trenton Donley set a boys school record with nine 3-pointers. Trey Boblitt hit seven 3-pointers, which tied the record for a few minutes, until Donley broke it.

Donley led all scorers with 31 points. Boblitt finished with 23.

Carson Soper added 18 points for the Pirates. Nic Essinger scored nine.

Bluffton is 5-7. Cory-Rawson is 5-4.

Botkins 84, Bath 55

BATH TOWNSHIP – Botkins rolled past Bath at Bath.

Brayden Fleharty led Bath with 20 points.

Bath is 6-6.

Botkins led 38-28 at the half and 58-40 after three quarters.

Miller City 50, Temple Christian 17

MILLER CITY – Miller City went out to an 11-2 early lead and rolled past Temple Christian.

Miller City’s Jon Burgei had 14 points. Owen Tobe scored 10. T.J. Michel had nine.

Landon Callahan led the Pioneers with seven points and four rebounds.

Miller City dominated the boards, 42-15.

Miller City led 21-8 at the half.

Miller City is 4-10. Temple is 1-11.

Lima Central Catholic 55, Elida 37

ELIDA – Lima Central Catholic ran past Elida at the Elida Fieldhouse.

LCC is 7-5. Elida is 1-10.

Wayne Trace 69, Fort Jennings 63

HAVILAND – Wayne Trace notched a non-league victory over Fort Jennings at Wayne Trace.

Fort Jennings is 3-6.

Trevor Sinn and Grayson McClure both scored 15 points for Wayne Trace (10-3).

Evan Hoersten scored 21 for the Musketeers. Zach Schulte scored 19. Jon Grote scored 14 with four rebounds.

Fort Jennings won the boards, 16-12. Fort Jennings had 16 turnovers, while Wayne Trace had 12.

Wayne Trace led 33-25 at the half.

St. Marys 60, Coldwater 43

COLDWATER – St. Marys ran out to a big early lead and cruised past Coldwater.

St. Marys led 23-4 after the first quarter and 30-15 at the half.

St. Marys is 8-3. Coldwater is 6-7

Jess Meyer paced Coldwater with 10 points. Carson Muhlenkamp scored nine.

Columbus Grove 52, Kalida 30

COLUMBUS GROVE – Columbus Grove ran past Kalida in a Putnam County League game at Columbus Grove.

The Bulldogs are 7-1, 1-1 in the PCL. Kalida is 11-2, 2-1 in the PCL.

Grove led 2017 at the half and 37-24 after three quarters.

Ottoville 51, St. Henry 35

OTTOVILLE – Ottoville’s Josh Thorbahn tossed in 20 points to power the Big Green past St. Henry at Ottoville.

Ottoville is 11-2. St. Henry is 10-4.

Thorbahn also had nine rebounds. The Big Green’s Ryan Suever had eight points and eight rebounds.

Luke Gels had eight points for St. Henry. Casey Bruening had six points and eight rebounds.

Ottoville led 13-6 after the first quarter and 33-14 at the half.

St. Henry won the boards, 36-28. Ottoville shot 38 percent from the field and held the Redskins to 26 percent shooting.

Spencerville 58, Arlington 55

SPENCERVILLE – Spencerville’s Josh Henline tossed in 26 points to spark the Bearcats over Arlington at Spencerville.

Spencerville is 3-10. Arlington is 5-6.

Keegan Goecke scored 14 for Spencerville.

Henline hit five 3-pointers.

Brandon Hull led Arlington with 17 points.

Arlington led 31-27 at the half and 42-40 after three.

Spencerville outscored Arlington 18-13 in the final quarter to post the victory.

Ridgemont 72, North Baltimore 50

RIDGEWAY – Ridgemont rolled to a win over North Baltimore at Ridgemont.

Ridgemont’s Mason Stuck fired in 26 points and scored his 1,000 career point.

Landon Newland had 24 points for the Gophers. Jayden Streets scored 17.

Ridgemont is 9-5.

Antwerp 52, Lincolnview 47

MIDDLE POINT – Antwerp held off Lincolnview for a victory at Lincolnview.

Antwerp is 10-1. Lincolnview is 8-2.

Jake Bowersock led the Lancers with 12 points. Creed Jessee scored 11 with seven rebounds. Collin Overholt scored 10.

Antwerp won the boards, 29-24.

Antwerp’s Jagger Landers had 24 points.

The Lancers led 28-25 at the half. Antwerp nudged ahead 41-40 after three.

Van Wert 55, Bryan 45

VAN WERT — Van Wert posted its first win of the year with a non-league win over Bryan Saturday afternoon at Van Wert.

Van Wert is 1-7.

Owen Treece paced the Cougars with 22 points with three 3-pointers. Ethan Brown scored 17 with three 3-pointers.

Titus Rohrer led Bryan with 26 points.

Van Wert led 23-19 at the half.

Fort Recovery 47, Wapakoneta 29

WAPAKONETA – Fort Recovery posted a win over Wapakoneta at Wapakoneta.

Fort Recovery is 7-6. Wapak is 8-4.

Fort Recovery led 26-14 at the half.

Leipsic 59, Patrick Henry 50

HAMLER – Leipsic came away with a non-league win over Patrick Henry at Patrick Henry.

Leipsic is 10-1. Patrick Henry is 5-7.

Leipsic’s Jayden Siefker tossed in 24 points with six 3-pointers. Mason Brandt had 16 points and seven rebounds.

Patrick Henry’s Braden Hall had 24 points and five 3-pointers.

Leipsic led 29-21 at the half and 41-28 after three.

Delphos St. John’s 44, Upper Scioto Valley 34

MCGUFFEY – Delphos St. John’s registered a win over Upper Scioto Valley at USV.

St. John’s is 3-7. USV is 5-5.

Ayersville 48, Paulding 43

PAULDING – Ayersville knocked off Paulding at Paulding.

Paulding is 6-6. Ayersville is 7-4.

Andrew Adams led Paulding with 11 points. Boston Pease scored nine. Blake McGarvey had eight.

Ayersville won the boards, 34-20.

Fort Loramie 65, Crestview 59

FORT LORAMIE – Fort Loramie got past Crestview at Fort Loramie.

Crestview’s Kalen Etzler had 26 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

Crestview is 10-3.

Fort Loramie led 32-26 at the half.

New Bremen 60, Russia 46

NEW BREMEN – New Bremen defeated Russia at New Bremen.

New Bremen is 8-4.

The game was tied at 28 at the half.

SIDNEY – Fairlawn defeated Waynesfield-Goshen at Sidney.

Waynesfield is 3-8.

Hardin Northern 41, Ada 33

DOLA – Hardin Northern earned a victory over Ada at Hardin Northern.

Hardin Northern is 6-6. Ada is 1-10.

Nevin Robson led the Polar Bears with 19 points and eight rebounds. Owen Wetherill had seven points.

Cayden Murphy had 13 points for Ada. Micah Cook had 11 points with three 3-pointers.

Fairlawn 86, Waynesfield-Goshen 78

SIDNEY — Layton Campbell connected on eight 3-pointers, finishing with 31 points for W-G. Za’mere Daniel and Jayden Elliott each had 13 points and Blake Barnes scored 11 for Waynesfield-Goshen.

Spencerville 39, Shawnee 36

Upper Sandusky 45, Shawnee 28

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Spencerville knocked off Shawnee in the Shawnee dual meet at Shawnee.

Upper Sandusky posted a victory over Shawnee.

In Shawnee’s loss to Upper Sandusky, Shawnee’s match winners were Cory Beach (132, major dec.) and Champ Keysor (220, fall).

In Spencerville’s win over Shawnee, Shawnee’s match winners were the following: Kayne Brown (106, fall); Ethan Scurlock (145, fall); Mason Adlesh (152, fall); Damion Music (160, fall); and Tyler Lauck (170, fall).

Spencerville’s match winners were the following: Nyah Hodge-Miller (113, fall); Carder Miller (126, fall); Jason Dues (138, dec.); Carson Roberts (195, fall); Ruben Noriega (220, fall); and Brandon Dues (285, fall).

Allen East Duals

HARROD – The host Mustangs won with a 5-0 record.

Every team wrestled five dual matches. Allen East defeated Kenton 51-21, Van Buren 52-18, Columbus Grove 51-24, Woodmore 45-12 and Fremont Ross 33-20.

Fremont Ross was second with a 4-1 record.

Woodmore went 3-2. Columbus Grove went 2-3.

Van Buren was 1-4. Kenton was 0-5.

Sielski Invitational

COLDWATER — Liberty Center went 5-0 to win the team title followed by Coldwater (4-1), St. Marys (3-2), Brookville (2-3), Milton Union (1-4) and Indian Lake (0-5).

Coldwater 3,186, St. Henry 2,806

MINSTER – Coldwater pushed its record to 12-0 with a victory over St. Henry at Minster’s Community Lanes.

Coldwater is 6-0 I the Midwest Athletic Conference.

Coldwater sophomore Brandon Hammons rolled a 513 (246-267). That was only 26 pins off the school record of 539, set by Toby James in 2011.

Shawnee 1,682, Lima Senior 1,602

LIMA – Shawnee knocked off Lima Senior at 20th Century Lanes.

Solomon Smith led Shawnee with a 386 (201-185).

Myles Aldrich shot a 370 (135-235). Cruz Hunter shot 368 (195-173). Ryan Twining shot a 336 (149-187).

Lima Senior’s Anthony Lutz shot 345 (195-150). Aaron Slone shot 342 (190-152).

Daniel Osborn rolled a 313 (152-161). Ricky Lee rolled a 312 (165-147).

Ottawa-Glandorf 2,122, North Baltimore 1,778

NORTH BALTIMORE – Ottawa-Glandorf notched a win over North Baltimore at Ten Pin Lanes.

O-G’s Brayden Maag rolled a 331 (148-183). Brandt Utrup rolled a 318 (155-163). Sam Kelley had a 284 (133-151).

Girls bowling

Shawnee 2,346, Lima Senior 1,958

LIMA — Shawnee notched a victory over Lima Senior at 20th Century Lanes.

Shawnee’s Lynden Bassitt rolled a 398 (195-203). Olivia Miller rolled a 387 (184-203).

Emma Holden had a 303 (157-146).

For Lima Senior, Tatum Twining rolled a 381 (199-182). Haley Shaffer had a 329 (156-173).

Centerville Sweet 16 Tournament

CENTERVILLE – Celina finished fifth at the Centerville girls bowling tournament.

Celina rolled games of 948 and 924.

Celina’s Ashtyn Huber finished second overall with games of 234 and 199 for a 433.

Celina’s Madison Harden was third overall with games of 244 and 182 for a 426.

Celina’s Emma Whistler had a game of 224.

Bluffton 75, Defiance 54

BLUFFTON – Bluffton won its second straight game over Defiance in two days, this time Saturday afternoon at Bluffton’s Sommer Center.

Bluffton defeated Defiance Friday at Defiance.

Bluffton is 8-1. Defiance is 0-2.

Taylor Malson and Sammy Shardo (Liberty-Benton) led Bluffton both with 13 points.

Emma Saltzman scored 12. Shardo and Peyton Henry (Leipsic) both had five assists.

Brianna Gillig had nine points and seven rebounds.

Bluffton shot 49 percent from the field and was 43 percent on 3-pointers (10 of 23).

Defiance shot 26 percent from the field and was 4 of 18 on threes.

Bluffton won the boards, 48-39.

Bluffton is at Earlham this Friday.

UNOH 61, Lourdes 53

SYLVANIA — Jada Haines had 19 points and Tya Bell scored 16 for University of Northwestern Ohio.

Men’s basketball

Bluffton 69, Defiance 60

BLUFFTON – Bluffton’s men knocked off Defiance for the second straight night, this time Saturday at Bluffton’s Sommer Center.

On Friday, Bluffton defeated Defiance at Defiance.

Bluffton is 5-0. Defiance is 0-2.

Jameel Cosby paced Bluffton with 18 points and three blocks. Dezman Brown scored 14.

Mike Ketner (Minster) and Aaron Rich both scored 12 for the Beavers. Rich had eight rebounds.

Bluffton shot 48 percent from the field and was 6 of 20 on 3-pointers. Defiance shot 45 percent from the field and hit 20 percent on three.

Bluffton is at Earlham this Friday.

Lourdes 75, UNOH 65

SYLVANIA — Nathan Lessing (24), Isaac Golson Jr. (16) and Hunter Bode (10) each scored in double digits for the University of Northwestern Ohio.

FREMONT — The Coldwater boys finished third at Fremont Ross. Team scores and girls team results were not reported.

In the girls competition, Marion Local’s Kylie Niekamp won the 200 IM in 2:24.84, Coldwater’s Katie Noonan was the diving champ with a final score of 166.9, Coldwater’s Macy May won the 100 butterfly in 1:01.27 and the 100 backstroke in 1:02.28 and Coldwater’s Heidi Bruns won the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.65
