Roundup: Bath remains unbeaten in WBL girls basketball games

CELINA – Bath’s Wildkittens pulled away from Celina 51-38 in a Western Buckeye League girls basketball game Thursday at Celina.

Bath is 13-1 and stands atop in the WBL at 5-0. Celina is 0-10, 0-4 in the WBL.

Lexi Renner and Esther Bolon both had 10 points for Bath. Chandler Clark and Ruby Bolon both scored nine.

Madelyn Renner scored eight for the Wildkittens.

Celina was led by Taylor Klingshirn’s 19 points.

Bath took a 23-15 lead at the half. The Wildkittens led 34-26 after three.

St. Marys 41, Shawnee 37

SHAWNEE TOWNHIP – St. Marys edged Shawnee in a Western Buckeye League game at Shawnee.

St. Marys’ Kendall Dieringer led the Roughriders with 11 points. Noey Ruane and Karsyn McGlothen both had eight points.

Shawnee freshman guard Grace Freiberger had 14 points, seven steals and five assists.

Fellow Shawnee freshman Zoe Best scored 12.

St. Marys is 10-3, 4-1 in the WBL. Shawnee is 8-5, 2-2 in the WBL.

Kenton 39, Wapakoneta 28

KENTON – Kenton notched a Western Buckeye League win over Wapakoneta at Kenton.

Kenton is 6-6, 3-2 in the WBL. Wapak is 4-8, 1-4 in the WBL.

Kenton led 16-10 at the half and 29-19 after three.

Columbus Grove 36, Spencerville 31

SPENCERVILLE – Columbus Grove posted a Northwest Conference victory over Spencerville at Spencerville.

Grove is 8-6, 3-2 in the NWC. Spencerville is 7-5, 2-2 in the NWC.

Columbus Grove led 34-31 after three quarters.

Emma Leis led Spencerville with 15 points.

Defiance 34, Elida 28

DEFIANCE – Defiance picked up its first Western Buckeye League win of the year with a victory over Elida at Defiance.

Elida is 6-5, 2-3 in the WBL. Defiance is 2-11, 1-4 in the WBL.

Defiance led 13-6 at the half.

Minster 38, New Knoxville 29

NEW KNOXVILLE – Minster, which was ranked No. 2 in the state, was able to go on a late run to post a victory over New Knoxville at New Knoxville.

Minster is 10-1, 5-0 in the Midwest Athletic Conference. The No. 8-ranked Rangers are 10-2, 3-2 in the MAC.

Minster was led by Ivy Wolfs 13 points.

The game was tied at 15 at the half. Minster pulled out to a 25-21 lead after three.

Versailles 40, St. Henry 31

ST. HENRY – Versailles knocked off St. Henry in a Midwest Athletic Conference game at St. Henry.

St. Henry is 1-9, 0-5 in the MAC. Versailles is 6-9, 2-4 in the MAC.

Versailles led 21-19 at the half and 34-24 after three quarters.

Upper Scioto Valley 50, Temple Christian 28

MCGUFFEY – Upper Scioto Valley rolled past Temple Christian to notch its first victory of the year at USV.

USV won the boards, 33-16.

USV is 1-10, 1-4 in the Northwest Central Conference. Temple is 1-3.

Allison Moore and Graesan Evans both scored 13 points for the Rams. Moore had seven rebounds.

USV’s Kennedy Hall had seven points, four rebounds and six assists.

Arcadia 56, Leipsic 53 (OT)

LEIPSIC – Arcadia canned 10 of 23 3-point shots to knock off Leipsic in overtime at Leipsic.

The game was tied at 45 at the end of regulation.

Leipsic is 8-5, 4-2 in the Blanchard Valley Conference.

Marissa Hermiller led the Vikings with 14 points and four rebounds.

Ava Henry had 13 points and five rebounds. Liz Scheckelhoff had nine points and 10 rebounds.

Leipsic won the boards, 25-20.

Bluffton 50, Lincolnview 38

MIDDLE POINT – Bluffton’s balanced offense was too much for Lincolnview at Bluffton.

Bluffton’s Sami Scores had 11 points, five rebounds and four assists. Kylie Monday had 11 points and three assists.

Bluffton’s Laykin Garmatter had nine points and five assists. Sophie Bricker had nine points.

The Lancers were led by Kendall Bollenbacher’s 12 points. Sami Sellers scored 10.

The Lancers won the boards 22-17.

Bluffton is 9-6, 3-2 in the Northwest Conference. Lincolnview is 3-10, 0-4 in the NWC.

Perry 55, Hardin Northern 37

DOLA – Perry came out on top in a Northwest Central Conference game with Hardin Northern at Dola.

Perry’s Bryce James tossed in 19 points. Lily Floyd had 17 for the Commodores.

Eris McCoy had 14 points for the Polar Bears. Bella Wilson scored eight.

Perry led 18-4 after the first quarter and 30-10 at the half.

Perry had 17 turnovers and forced Hardin Northern into 29.

The Commodores won the boards, 32-31.

Perry is 5-6, 3-1 in the NWCC. Hardin Northern is 3-6, 1-3 in the NWCC.

Riverdale 51, Pandora-Gilboa 26

MOUNT VICTORY – Riverdale pulled away from Pandora-Gilboa at Riverdale.

Riverdale led 39-21 after three quarters.

Paulding 66, Allen East 43

PAULDING – Paulding notched a win over Allen East at Paulding.

Allen East is 3-9, 0-4 in the Northwest Conference. Paulding is 12-4, 4-1 in the NWC.

Liberty-Benton 78, Cory-Rawson 32

BENTON RIDGE – Liberty-Benton rolled to a victory over Cory-Rawson at L-B.

Karissa Welte had nine points for the Hornets. Zoe Chisholm scored eight.

Riley Irwin paced the Eagles with 24 points. Lauren Gerken scored 14. Lauren Smith had 13.

L-B led 49-18 at the half.

Marion Local 42, Fort Recovery 32

MARIA STEIN – Marion Local knocked off Fort Recovery at Marion Local.

Marion Local is 12-2, 4-1 in the Midwest Athletic Conference. Fort Recovery is 8-5, 4-2 in the MAC.

Marion Local led 21-13 at the half.

Ada 46, Lima Central Catholic 35

LIMA – Ada knocked off Lima Central Catholic at Herr Gymansium in Lima.

Ada is 3-8.

Ridgemont 41, Lehman Catholic 34

RIDGEWAY – Ridgemont posted a Northwest Central Conference win over Sidney Lehman Catholic.

Ridgemont is 5-7, 4-1 in the NWCC. Lehman Catholic is 2-7, 2-1 in the NWCC.

Riverside 60, Waynesfield-Goshen 53

RIVERSIDE – Riverside posted a victory over Waynesfield-Goshen at Riverside.

Waynesfield is 4-8, 2-0 in the Northwest Central Conference. Riverside is 4-2, 3-2 in the NWCC.

Riverside led 20-13 after the first quarter and 35-25 at the half.

Wrestling

St. Marys 61, Shawnee 12

ST. MARYS – St. Marys rolled to a victory over Shawnee at St. Marys.

Shawnee’s lone match victory came at 145 by Ethan Scurlock, on a fall.

St. Marys’ winners were the following: Michael Crites (106, fall); Tyler Hisey (113, fall); Trevor Hisey (120, fall); Isaac Torsell (138, decision); Garrett Donavan (152, major dec.); Mason Saeler (170, fall); Stasha Patterson (195, fall); Brice Saeler (220, fall); and Logan Knouse (185 (fall).

Allen East 42, Coldwater 27

HARROD — Allen East knocked off Coldwater at Allen East.

Picking up wins for Coldwater were Nick Kline (126); Ethan Heitkamp (132); Jack Ebbing (138); Grant Heuing (152); and Caleb Stammen (220).

Allen East’s winners were not reported by the time The Lima News went to press.

Coldwater 39, Parkway 29

Austin Hamilton (120), Nick Kline (126), Ethan Heitkamp (132), Gran Heuing (152), Shane Ontrop (182), Caleb Stammen (195) and Will Fox (285) all won matches for Coldwater. Parkway’s match winners were not reported.

Bowling

Coldwater 2,962, Lima Senior 1,961

Coldwater lifted its record to 11-0 with a victory over Lima Senior.

Coldwater’s Hayden Beougher rolled a 446 (228-218). Brandon Hammonds had a 412 (199-213). Kayden Geire had a 398 (181-217).
