Roundup: Eachus steal, 3-pointer gives Bluffton victory

BLUFFTON — Bluffton’s Riley Eachus gobbled up a steal, then drained a 3-pointer just before the final buzzer to lift the Pirates over Paulding 51-48 in a girls basketball game Thursday night at Bluffton.

Eachus led the Pirates with 14 points with two 3-pointers. Sami Scoles scored 13. Kylie Stackhouse had 10 points.

It marked Paulding’s first league loss of the year.

Bluffton is 7-6, 2-2 in the Northwest Conference. Paulding is 9-4, 3-1 in the NWC.

Paulding’s Leigha Egnor led all players with 27 points and three 3-pointers. Janae Pease scored eight.

Bluffton led 25-21 at the half and 38-36 after three.

Perry 55, Upper Scioto Valley 30

PERRY TOWNSHIP – Perry dominated the second quarter in a victory over Upper Scioto Valley at Perry.

The score was tied at 12 after the first quarter. The Commodores then outscored USV 24-6 in the second quarter to pull out to a 36-18 lead at the half. Perry wasn’t challenged in the second half.

Brooke Miller led Perry with 11 points. Danaisha Patton had eight points and nine rebounds.

Miller and Mary Hoersten (six points) were both 2 of 3 on 3-pointers.

Allison Moore led the Rams with 11 points and six rebounds. Kennedy Hall had seven points and four rebounds.

Perry shot 60 percent from the field (20 of 33).

The Commodores shot 5 of 14 on 3-pointers.

Perry won the boards, 33-31.

Perry, which had nine turnovers, forced USV into 31 turnovers.

Perrysburg 83, Lima Senior 23

PERRYSBURG – Perrysburg ran past Lima Senior at Perrysburg.

Lima Senior’s Kaylynne Hile had seven points and six rebounds. Tiana Spivey had six points and eight rebounds. Tillie Nelson had eight rebounds with her two points.

Ottoville 54, Continental 21

OTTOVILLE – Ottoville went out to an early lead and cruised home to a victory over Continental at Heckman Gymnasium.

The Big Green led 17-6 after the first quarter and 40-10 at the half.

Nicole Knippen and Elise Kramer both had 15 points for Ottoville. Both knocked down three 3-pointers.

Alexa Honigford had eight points.

Madelyn Potts had eight points for the Pirates.

Columbus Grove 54, Lincolnview 36

COLUMBUS GROVE – Columbus Grove’s Kenzie King had 12 points with 10 assists to lift the Bulldogs over Lincolnview at Columbus Grove.

King also had eight rebounds, just missing a triple-double. She hit two 2-pointers.

Columbus Grove’s Erin Downing had nine points and 10 rebounds. Jaylen Sautter scored eight.

Zadria King led Lincolnview with nine points.

Columbus Grove is 6-6, 2-2 in the Northwest Conference. The Lancers are 2-8, 0-3 in the NWC.

Brynn Fortman led the Bulldogs in scoring with 15 points.

Shawnee 55, Wapakoneta 35

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP – Shawnee pulled away in the second half to notch a victory over Wapakoneta at Shawnee.

Shawnee led 27-24 at the half. The Indians pulled out to a 41-29 lead after three.

Shawnee stands 8-2, 2-1 in the Western Buckeye League. Wapak is 4-6, 1-3 in the WBL.

Shawnee’s Zoe Best had 18 points and five rebounds. Grace Freiberger had 15 points and nine steals.

The Indians’ Ania Pearson had 10 points and five rebounds.

Wapak was led by Alyssa Harrod’s 11 points. Casey Minnig scored 10.

Delphos Jefferson 59, Ada 18

DELPHOS – Delphos Jefferson rolled to a victory over Ada at Delphos.

Jefferson led 27-8 at the half.

Delphos Jefferson is 11-2, 3-0 in the Northwest Conference. Ada is 2-7, 1-3 in the NWC.

Alycia Lindeman paced Jefferson with 19 points. Alyvia Lindeman scored 16. Josie McGue scored 10.

Courtney Summner had nine points for Ada.

New Bremen 62, Delphos St. John’s 56 (OT)

NEW BREMEN – New Bremen went overtime to notch a victory over Delphos St. John’s at New Bremen

The game was tied at 51 at the end of regulation.

New Bremen is 4-5, 2-2 in the Midwest Athletic Conference. St. John’s is 7-5, 1-3 in the MAC.

Elli Roetgerman fired in 18 points for the Cardinals. Madison Cordonnier added 17.

Rylee Pohlman led St. John’s with 19 points. Paige Gaynier had 16 points with three 3-pointers.

St. John’s Elly Wrasman had 13 points with four 3-pointers.

New Bremen led 26-21 at the half.

Kenton 53, Defiance 40

DEFIANCE – Kenton posted a victory over Defiance at Defiance.

Kenton led 41-30 after three quarters.

Kenton is 4-6, 2-2 in the Western Buckeye League. Defiance is 1-10, 0-4 in the WBL.

North Baltimore 56, Cory-Rawson 40

RAWSON – North Baltimore knocked off Cory-Rawson at Cory-Rawson.

Zoe Chisholm tossed in 20 points for the Hornets. Karissa Welte scored eight.

Kenzie Perez had 19 points for North Baltimore.

Waynesfield-Goshen 56, Marion Elgin 37

WAYNESFIELD – Waynesfield-Goshen knocked off Elgin at Waynesfield.

The Tigers are 3-8, 1-0 in the Northwest Central Conference. Elgin is 0-8, 0-3 in the NWCC.

Jordan Elliott paced the Tigers with 20 points. Rylie Barrington scored 15.

Minster 70, Parkway 41

MINSTER – Minster posted a victory over Parkway at Minster.

Minster is 8-1, 4-0 in the Midwest Athletic Conference.

Parkway is 5-5, 1-3 in the MAC.

St. Marys 46, Van Wert 35

VAN WERT – St. Marys registered a Western Buckeye League win over Van Wert at Van Wert.

St. Marys is 8-3, 3-1 in the WBL. Van Wert is 4-6, 2-2 in the WBL.

Van Wert led 26-24 at the half.

Elida 61, Celina 35

ELIDA – Elida cruised in with a victory over Celina at the Elida Fieldhouse.

Elida led 50-15 after three.

Elida is 5-3, 2-1 in the Western Buckeye League. Celina is 0-8, 0-3 in the WBL.

Brooke Reese had 13 points for Elida. Addisyn Freeman scored 11. Elli Mitchell had 10.

Crestview 61, Allen East 24

HARROD – Crestview ran out to a big lead and romped past Allen East at Allen East.

Crestview led 44-13 at the half and 52-20 after three.

Crestview is 9-1, 3-1 in the Northwest Conference. Allen East is 3-8, 0-3 in the NWC.

Fort Recovery 43, New Knoxville 38

FORT RECOVERY – Fort Recovery gave New Knoxville its first loss of the year at Fort Recovery.

Fort Recovery is 7-4, 4-1 in the Midwest Athletic Conference. The Rangers are 8-1, 3-1 in the MAC.

Ridgemont 46, Sycamore Mohawk 43

SYCAMORE – Ridgemont posted a victory over Mohawk at Sycamore.

Ridgemont is 4-6, 4-1 in the Northwest Central Conference.

Coldwater 53, St. Henry 22

COLDWATER – Coldwater knocked off St. Henry at Coldwater in a Midwest Athletic Conference game.

Coldwater is 4-7, 2-2 in the MAC. St. Henry is 1-8, 0-4 in the MAC.

Marion Local 66, Versailles 37

VERSAILLES – Marion Local knocked off Versailles at Versailles in a Midwest Athletic Conference game.

Marion Local is 10-2, 3-1 in the MAC. Versailles is 4-9, 1-4 in the MAC.


Wapakoneta 63, Shawnee 18

WAPAKONETA – Wapakoneta rolled to a victory over Shawnee in a Western Buckeye League match at Wapakoneta.

Winners for Wapak included the following: Collin Mellot (113, fall); Bryce Knapke (120, fall); Nate Roa (126, dec.); Gavin Hall (132, fall); Nate Buell (145, major dec.); Jayden Rampulla (182, fall); Ean Kramer (195, fall); Trevor Houts (220, fall); Cael Rostorfer (285, fall).

Picking up wins for Shawnee were Cory Beach (138, fall) and Ethan Scurlock (152, fall).

Defiance 42, Kenton 33

KENTON – Defiance knocked off Kenton in a Western Buckeye League match.

Only eight matches were contested.

Kenton winners were the following: Carter Bays (170, fall, 1:42); Brandon Bowling (220, fall); and Anthony Hunt (138, 4-2 dec.).

Defiance winners were the following: Dominic Tracy (160, fall, 46 seconds); Spencer Thompson (182, fall, 3:51); Treven Rittenhouse (106, fall, 3:33); Victor Jurcevich (126, fall, 56 seconds); Alex Francis (152, fall, 3:33).
