Mangas scores 25 in Shawnee victory

Lima Senior opens with win

ST. HENRY – George Mangas scored 25 points and Brady Wheeler added 21 to power Shawnee to a 75-43 boys basketball victory over St. Henry Saturday night at St. Henry.

Wheeler canned five 3-pointers, while Mangas sank two threes.

Shawnee is 3-0. St. Henry is 3-1.

Mangas had 12 points in the first quarter. He also had four assists and four steals.

Wheeler added six assists.

Tyson Elwer contributed 10 rebounds and four blocks.

Austin Miller added nine points for the Indians.

Bennett Gels led the Redskins with 12 points.

Lima Senior 71, Ashland 53

ASHLAND – Lima Senior opened its season with a convincing victory over Ashland at Ashland.

Spartans point guard Khalil Luster led the way with 16 points.

Lima Senior’s Travis Bullock had 15 points, while E.J. Cameron scored 14.

Clinton Moore had nine points and Anthony Mosley had eight.

Grayson Stevry led Ashland with 18 points, while Luke Denbow had 17.

Ashland is 2-1.

The game was tied at 12 after the first quarter. The Spartans then pulled out to a 36-27 lead at the half.

Lima Senior led 57-36 lead after three.

Bluffton 79, Liberty-Benton 67

BLUFFTON – Bluffton sophomore Carson Soper tossed in 27 points, with five 3-pointers, to lead the Pirates to a victory over Liberty-Benton at Bluffton.

Bluffton is 1-1.

Trenton Donley scored 19 for the Pirates. Trey Boblitt added 13 points.

Bluffton ran out to a 27-11 after the first quarter and led 49-33 at the half. The Pirates led 56-47 after three.

Arlington 65, Temple Christian 44

LIMA – Arlington used a big second quarter to knock off Temple Christian in Lima.

Arlington led 9-8 after the first quarter, then outscored the Pioneers 21-9 in the second quarter to take a 30-17 lead at the half.

Arlington led 46-27 after three.

Preston Patrick led Temple with 16 points, three rebounds and two assists. Landon Callahan had 12 points, four rebounds and two assists.

Temple’s Cody Motter had seven points and seven rebounds.

Arlington outrebounded Temple, 28-20.

Temple had 13 turnovers, while Arlington had eight.

Delphos St. John’s 61, Elida 27

ELIDA – Delphos St. John’s went out to an early lead and ran past Elida at the Elida Fieldhouse.

The Blue Jays led 23-6 after the first quarter and 36-12 at halftime.

Matthew Kahny led St. John’s with 27 points and four 3-pointers. Landon Elwer added 11.

Austin Miller led Elida with seven points, while Tyler Long had six.

St. John’s is 1-2. Elida is 0-4.

Allen East 51, Waynesfield-Goshen 47

WAYNESFIELD – Allen East moved its mark to 4-0 with a victory over Waynesfield-Goshen at Waynesfield.

The Mustangs led 27-25 at the half and 43-34 after three.

Tyler Clum scored 13 points to lead the Mustangs. Bradden Crumrine added 11 points. Za’mere Daniel had 16 points and Hyatt Kaufman scored 10 for W-G (0-2).

Spencerville 74, Fort Jennings 60

FORT JENNINGS – Spencerville’s Josh Henline fired in 19 points and Dalton Prichard had 16 to power the Bearcats over Fort Jennings at Fort Jennings.

Dylan Smith scored 14 for the Bearcats and Keegan Goecke had 11.

Zach Schulte led the Musketeers with 16 points. Evan Hoersten had 14.

Spencerville is 2-2. Fort Jennings is 1-3.

Leipsic 55, Holgate 33

HOLGATE – Leipsic got out to a fast start to blitz Holgate at Holgate.

Leipsic (3-0) went out to a 16-5 first-quarter lead and Holgate wasn’t able to recover. The Vikings led 30-12 at halftime.

Mason Brandt led the Vikings with 16 points, with two 3-pointers. He also had four assists and three rebounds.

Jaden Siefker had 12 points. Dillan Niese had 10 points and six rebounds. Lorenzo Walther had seven rebounds and six points.

Bailey Sonnenberg had 18 points for Holgate (1-2).

Leipsic won the boards, 26-14.

Fort Loramie 49, New Knoxville 36

NEW KNOXVILLE – Sammy Anspach had 18 points and Max Henschen scored seven for the host Rangers (0-3).

Sammy Anspach led the Rangers with 19 points.

Ayersville 50, Miller City 48

MILLER CITY – Ayersville used a key third-quarter burst to edge Miller City at Miller City.

Miller City led 31-21 at the half, but Ayersville outscored Miller City 13-2 in the third quarter to grab a 34-33 lead after three.

Austin Ruhe had 15 points for Miller City. Thomas Weis had 11.

Miller City is 0-3.

Lincolnview 74, Continental 55

MIDDLE POINT – Lincolnview had four players in double-figure scoring in a victory over Continental at Lincolnview.

It was the opener for the Lancers. The Pirates are 2-2.

Collin Overholt led the Lancers with 14 points and five assists. Landon Price scored 12.

Jake Bowersock and Aaron Cavinder both had 11 points for Lincolnview. Cavinder was 3 of 4 on 3-pointers.

Creed Jessee had six points, five assists and six rebounds.

Mitchell Coleman had 26 points with three 3-pointers for Continental.

Lincolnview led 35-22 at the half.

Ottawa-Glandorf 85, Van Buren 27

VAN BUREN – Ottawa-Glandorf cruised a victory over Van Buren at Buren.

The Titans (2-0) led 54-16 at the half.

Ottoville 56, Ada 23

ADA – Ottoville posted its second win of the weekend with a victory over Ada at Ada.

Ottoville, which knocked of Columbus Grove on Friday, is 3-0.

Antwerp 58, Pandora-Gilboa

PANDORA — Ryan Johnson had 10 points and Blake Steiner scored seven for P-G (0-2).

Rossford 53, Defiance 49

ROSSFORD – Rossford knocked off Defiance at Rossford.

Defiance is 2-2.

Hardin Northern 61, Arcadia 23

DOLA – Zeb Wilson (12), Nevin Robson (11) and Cole Morris (10) all scored in double digits for Hardin Northern (3-0).

Crestview 56, Parkway 38

ROCKFORD – Crestview rolled past Parkway at Parkway.

Crestview is 3-0. Parkway is 0-1.

Antwerp 58, Pandora-Gilboa 30

PANDORA – Antwerp knocked off Pandora-Gilboa at P-G.

The Rockets are 0-3.

Botkins 42, Marion Local 30

MARIA STEIN – Botkins posted a victory over Marion Local at Maria Stein.

Marion Local is 0-3.

JACKSON CENTER – Jackson Center pulled away from Coldwater at Jackson Center.

BELLEFONTAINE — Drake Carmean (132 pounds), Kade Wireman (145), Chase Miller (152), Blake Hershberger (170) and Eli Criblez (285) went undefeated for second-place Allen East, which went 4-1 as a team, defeating Celina 42-30, Wapakoneta 49-17, Parkway 68-18 and Ben Logan 51-21 and falling 42-31 to team winner St. Marys.
