Boys basketball roundup: Continental uses big second quarter to defeat Temple Christian

CONTINENTAL — Continental used a key second quarter to pull away from Temple Christian 41-23 in a boys basketball game Saturday night at Continental.

The game was tied at 7 after the first quarter. The Pirates outscored Temple 16-4 in the second quarter to take a 23-11 lead at the half.

The Pirates led 32-18 after three.

Mitchell Coleman paced Continental with 18 points. Gavin Huff tossed in 15.

Preston Patrick led the Pioneers with 13 points and four rebounds.

Cody Motter led Temple with six rebounds, to go with his four points.

Continental outrebounded Temple, 26-20.

Temple had 14 turnovers, while Continental had 10.

The Pioneers shot 29 percent from the field and were 1 of 10 on 3-pointers.

Continental hit 30 percent from the field and was 4 of 12 on threes.

Fort Jennings 59, Ada 40

FORT JENNINGS – Fort Jennings’ Zach Schulte scored 19 points and knocked five 3-pointers to power the Musketeers past Ada at Fort Jennings.

Nick Trentman added 13 points for Fort Jennings. Evan Hoersten had 10.

Fort Jennings led 31-12 at the half and 48-16 after three.

Micah Cook led Ada with 11 points. Spencer Wall scored nine.

Celina 53, Versailles 43

CELINA – Celina sophomore Josh Rasawehr fired in 22 points and hit 8 of 11 at the foul line to help the Bulldogs notch a victory over Versailles at Celina.

Nick Adams, another Celina sophomore, added nine points.

Trey Jones scored 13 for Versailles.

Crestview 55, Miller City 45

MILLER CITY – Crestview’s 6-foot-8 Kalen Etzler tossed in 21 points, with two 3-pointers, to lead the Knights over Miller City at Miller City.

Carson Kreischer added 12 points and Gavin Etzler scored nine.

Miller City led 23-22 at the half. The Knights took a 36-33 lead after three.

Austin Ruhe led Miller City with 16 points. Ross Niese scored 13.

Allen East 59, Pandora-Gilboa 54

PANDORA – Allen East’s Tyler Clum scored 19 points to lift the Mustangs past Pandora-Gilboa at Pandora.

Bradden Crumrine had 16 points for Allen East. Gabe Criblez scored eight.

Blake Steiner led P-G with 16 points. Dillan Krohn scored eight.

Allen East is 2-0, while it was the opener for P-G.

Allen East led 31-26 at the half.

St. Henry 47, Russia 38

RUSSIA – St. Henry traveled to Russia and came back with a victory.

St. Henry’s Logan Lefeld scored 13 points. Casey Bruening had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Hayden Quinter had 11 points for Russia.

St. Henry won the boards, 34-24.

Minster 63, Spencerville 27

MINSTER – Minster outscored Spencerville 24-1 in the third quarter to pull away from the Bearcats at Minster.

Minster led 22-13 at the half, then pulled out to a 46-14 lead after three.

Eric Schmidt led Minster with 19 points and hit 4 of 5 on 3-pointers. He also had four rebounds and two assists.

Justin Nixon had 15 points and 17 rebounds for Minster. He also had five steals.

Johnny Nixon had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Minster dominated the glass, outrebounding the Bearcats, 47-25.

Minster hit 8 of 24 on 3-pointers.

Josh Henline led Spencerville with 11 points and four steals.

Antwerp 71, Paulding 33

ANTWERP – Antwerp ran past Paulding at Antwerp.

Antwerp is 2-0, while Paulding is 1-1.

Antwerp hit 54 percent from the field.

Blake McGarvey scored 12 for Paulding.

Luke Krause led Antwerp with 23 points and three 3-pointers.
