New Bremen and Fort Recovery advanced to the Division IV girls volleyball regional semifinals with Thursday night victories.
New Bremen defeated New Knoxville 25-17, 30-28, 25-23 and will play the winner of Saturday’s match between Tri-Village and Jackson Center at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at Northmont High School.
Fort Recovery (21-3) topped Marion Local 25-17, 21-25, 25-23, 16-25, 15-7 and will take on Tiffin Calvert, a 25-15, 25-21, 25-14 winner against Toledo Christian, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at Elida.
Paige Fortkamp had 14 kills, Marissa Gaerke had three aces and 14 digs and Hope Wendel had 26 assists for Fort Recovery.
Alana Pohlman had 13 kills, Heidi Rethman had three aces and 31 assists and Lydia Griesdorn had 15 digs for Marion Local.
ELIDA — Thursday night’s Division II district soccer final between Celina and Shawnee has been postponed until 6 p.m. Friday at Elida due to field conditions.
Lima Central Catholic’s Mary Kelly Mulcahy and Erin Mulcahy and St. Henry’s Ellen Naumann earned Division II first team honors in the northwest district. LCC’s Bridget Mulcahy made the second team the Thunderbirds’ Emma Mayers and Carlie VanMeter received honorable mention recognition. LCC’s Daniel Reinicke was named coach of the year.
Columbus Grove’s Blake Reynolds (offensive player of the year) and Andy Schafer (coach of the year) and Allen East’s Blake Hershberger (defensive player of the year) received top honors in the Northwest Conference.
Joining quarterback Reynolds on the first team offense were running backs Gunner Grigsby (Spencerville), Brody Brecht (Crestview) and Logan Gerardot (Crestview), receivers Gabe Clement (CG), Bradden Crumrine (AE) and Jacksen Schroeder (CG) and linemen Eli Meyers (AE), Jeff Meyer (CG), Mitch Douglas (CG), Carson Kreischer (Crestview) and Mason Penix (Crestview).
Other than linebacker Hershberger, the other members of the first team defense were linemen Gabe Criblez (Allen East), Gunner King (Columbus Grove), Trevon Barton (Crestview) and Griffin Schwartz (Spencerville), linebackers Ezra Jones (CG), Brody Brecht (Crestview) and Keegan Goecke (Spencerville) and backs Bradden Crumrine (Allen East), Jon Banal (Columbus Grove), Logan Gerardot (Columbus Grove) and Cody Bockey (Spencerville).
Grove’s Rece Verhoff was the first team specialist.
Fort Jennings ticket policy
FORT JENNINGS — Due to COVID-19 , government orders, and local and state health departments — occupancy of the Fort Jennings gymnasium for boys and girls games will be limited.
Therefore, Fort Jennings will not be selling or accepting any passes/season tickets for this basketball season. All tickets will be $6 .
In addition, varsity tickets will be pre-sale only and will be distributed first to family members and loved ones of the players, cheerleaders, and pep band members. Tickets will be limited for home and away games. Be aware the ticket allotment may be significantly lower for away games.

Junior high basketball teams and cheerleader family members will be permitted to purchase their tickets at the door for those games. All tickets will be $4 a t the door. All spectators will have to check in at the ticket table to identify their participating family member in order to purchase and attend the game.
