BELLBROOK — Bellbrook used its running game to sprint past St. Marys 44-14 in the third round of the Division III, region 12 football playoffs Saturday night at Bellbrook.
Bellbrook, the No. 1 seed, advances to the regional semifinals against No. 5-seed Hamilton Ross at 7 p.m. on Friday at Bellbrook.
Bellbrook scored 24 points in the second quarter and led 31-0 at the half.
Bellbrook’s Ashton Ault led the way with 22 carries for 149 yards. At halftime, he had 16 carries for 122 yards.
Bellbrook quarterback Alex Westbrock completed 4 of 7 for 101 yards. He threw one TD.
St. Marys’ Dylan Trogdlon had seven carries for 35 yards.
Bellbrook had 378 total yards, with 198 rushing.
St. Marys had 145 total yards, with 132 rushing.
St. Marys (6-3) managed only eight first downs.
St. Marys’ Tanner Howell started the third quarter with a 95-yard kickoff return for a TD. That cut the Bellbrook lead to 31-7.
The game was postponed from Friday night because of lightning and thunderstorms.
Van Wert 38, Keystone 27
LAGRANGE – Van Wert’s Owen Treece accounted for five touchdowns to spark the Cougars past Keystone in the third round of the playoffs at LaGrange.
Van Wert (7-1), the No. 5-seed, advances to the regional semifinals against No. 1-seed Bellevue at 7 p.m. Saturday at Bellevue.
Treece completed 20 of 28 passes for 198 yards. He threw TDs of 27, 5 and 24 yards.
Treece also carried the ball 23 times for 139 yards. He ran for TDs of 1 and 4 yards.
The Cougars’ Nate Jackson had seven carries for 106 yards. He had a 76-yard TD run and caught a 5-yard TD pass.
Maddix Crutchfield had three receptions for 61 yards and two TDs.
Connor Pratt had five catches for 43 yards.
Keystone led 21-19 at the half. Van Wert took the lead to stay 25-21 on a 1-yard TD run by Treece in the third quarter.
Van Wert had 448 total yards, with 250 rushing.
Keystone had 340 total yards, with 141 rushing.
Bellevue 56, Kenton 15
BELLEVUE – Bellevue cruised to a victory over Kenton in the third round of the playoffs at Bellevue.
Top-seeded Bellevue advances to the regional semifinals against Van Wert, the No. 5-seed, at 7 p.m. Saturday at Bellevue.
Kenton is 4-4.
Versailles 35, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy 19
Coldwater 28, Fort Recovery 26
COLDWATER – Coldwater edged Fort Recovery in a back-and-forth game in the third round of the playoffs at Coldwater.
Coldwater (7-0), the No. 1-seed, advances to the regional semifinals against West Jefferson, the No. 4-seed, at 7 p.m. Saturday at Coldwater.
Fort Recovery is 2-5.
Fort Recovery led 14-7 at the half. Coldwater took a 21-14 lead into the final quarter.
Coldwater quarterback Myles Blasingame completed 12 of 24 for 128 yards. He threw one TD.
Blasingame also led the ground game with 20 carries for 159 yards. He had TD runs of 2, 50 and 7 yards.
Coldwater’s Jesse Meyer had five receptions for 57 yards.
Fort Recovery’s Derek Jutte had 21 carries for 149 yards with two TDs (9, 13).
Indians quarterback Clay Schmitz completed 9 of 17 for 179 yards. He threw two TDs.
Coldwater had 349 total yards, with 221 on the ground.
Fort Recovery had 376 total yards, with 184 on the ground.
Frankfort Adena 28, Minster 0
FRANKFORT – Frankfort Adena shut out Minster in the third round of the playoffs at Frankfort.
Adena, the No. 3-seed, advances to the regional semifinals against Mechanicsburg, the No. 2-seed, at 7 p.m. Saturday at Mechanicsburg.
Minster is 2-6.
