FINDLAY — Elida’s Carson Harmon qualified for state at Thursday’s boys Division I golf district held at par 72 Findlay Country Club.
Harmon finished second individually with a 77. Ashland’s Tyler Sabo was medalist with a 71.
The top two teams and top two individuals not on qualifying teams earned spots at state.
St. Marys finished third with a 335 total behind state-bound Ashland (325) and Sylvania Northview (331).
Andrew Moore (81), Cole Koenig (81), Reese Sweigart (84) and Calvin Caywood (89) combined for St. Marys’ total.
Elida (344) was seventh with Hunter Jolliff (82), Cameron Collins (90) and Hayes Burton and Matt Adcock (95 each) posting scores. Shawnee (359) finished ninth with Solomon Smith (81), Justin Altenbach (91), Colton Morris (92) and Colin Pasion (95) contributing to the team total.

The Indians clinched the outright Western Buckeye League championship at 8-0, giving them 24 points.
Carter Jensen and Jake Miller each had two goals and Sam Tenwalde, Connor Neidemire, Jake Frasier and Landon Hoehn each had a goal. Zach Chambers, Matteo Fusillo, Brayden Ward and Miller each had an assist. Hoehn and Spencer Knott combined to get the shutout in goal.

LIMA — Delphos St. John’s has forfeited tonight’s Division VII playoff game against Lima Central Catholic at Spartan Stadium “due to Covid related concerns,” according to a Tbird Sports Twitter post. LCC advanced to play tonight’s Sycamore Mohawk at Pandora-Gilboa encounter winner.
WAPAKONETA — Wapakoneta’s Division III playoff game tonight at Hamilton Badin has been canceled “after having three positive COVID-19 tests over the last eight days among the (Wapakoneta) team,” according to a news release from Wapak Superintendent Aaron Rex.
Ada hires Cook
ADA — Jon Cook has been hired as Ada’s new varsity coach. Cook had served as Ada’s coach from 1996-98 before moving on to Jackson Center (2000-01) and Allen East (2013-14). He has worked as an assistant for the Bluffton University and Ohio Northern men’s teams and the ONU women’s team.

Kathryn Siebeneck had the match’s only goal while teammate Kassidy Hipsher got the shutout in goal. Grove’s Gwen Langhals made eight saves.
