Allen East rolled to a 50-14 win over Paulding in a first-round game in the Northwest Conference football tournament to determine a league champion on Friday night.
The Mustangs built a 36-8 halftime lead and were in control from the start.
They rolled up 392 yards of total offense in the first half — 227 yards rushing and 165 yards passing.
The fireworks started on Allen East’s first play when Blake Hershberger carried for 63 yards to Paulding’s 3-yard line.
Two plays later he scored the first of the three touchdowns he got in the first half on a 6-yard run after a rare loss of yards on this night for the Mustangs on their second playof the game.
Allen East marched 70 yards in four plays the second time it had the ball for a 15-0 lead. A 37-yard pass from quarterback Tyler Clum to Gavin Maxwell set up a 13-yard touchdown run by Hershberger.
Hershberger scored again on a 15-yard run to make it 22-0 only 9 1/2 minutes into the game.
The lead grew to 29-0 on an 80-yard touchdown pass from Clum to Carter Young with 7:13 left in the first half.
Paulding answered with a 5-yard touchdown pass from Payton Beckman to Adrian Manz with four minutes left in the first half before Jack Hoel’s 2-yard touchdown run with two minutes left in the first half made it 36-8 halftime.
The Mustangs scored first in the second half on a 20-yard pass from Clum to Bradden Crumrine to put the game into running clock territory.
Paulding returned it to a normal clock with a 36-yard touchdown pass from Beckman to Manz but Allen East sped up the clock again with an 11-yard touchdown run by Jacob Hershberger to make it 50-14.
