Xavier Simpson has signed with Science City Jena of the Pro A League, the second-highest ranked men’s pro basketball league in Germany.
Jena is a city of around 110,000 people, located in east-central Germany near Weimar. Simpson has already arrived in Germany, his agent Brian Jungreis said in a text on Wednesday.
Simpson played on Lima Central Catholic’s 2014 Division III state champion team before playing for Lima Senior his last two years of high school. He was Ohio’s Mr. Basketball in 2016 when Lima Senior was Division I state runner-up.
He was a three-year starter at point guard for the University of Michigan and ranks No. 2 in career assists for the Wolverines. He ranked second nationally last season when he averaged 7.9 assists per game. He averaged 12.9 points a game last season and scored 1,073 points in his college career.
