High school football roundup: Ottawa-Glandorf defeats St. Marys in double overtime

ST. MARYS — Ottawa-Glandorf’s Jacob Balbaugh hit Caleb Kuhlman with a 5-yard TD pass to lift the Titans past St. Marys 27-20 in double overtime at St. Marys.

Both teams stand 2-1, all in the Western Buckeye League.

O-G and St. Marys both scored a TD in the first overtime period to tie the game at 20 heading into the second overtime.

In the first overtime, St. Marys’ Aiden Hinkle scored on an 11-yard TD.

O-G scored on a 1-yard TD pass from Balbaugh to Colin White.

St. Marys had 369 total yards, with 326 coming on the ground.

O-G had 294 total yards, with 72 on the ground.

Balbaugh completed 25 of 33 passes for 222 yards. He threw four TDs, including the two in overtime.

On the ground, O-G’s Ian Fenbert had 11 carries for 69 yards.

Kuhlman had eight receptions for 73 yards, with the game-winning TD.

Will Kaufman caught seven passes for 64 yards with one TD.

St. Marys had a balanced rushing game with Dylan Trogdlong getting 18 carries for 105 yards and two TDs.

The Roughriders’ Ethan Wedding had 17 carries for 114 yards. Hinkle had 17 carries for 66 yards and one TD.

The game was close the whole way, with O-G leading 6-0 at the half and it was 13-13 after regulation.

St. Marys had 24:31 time of possession, while O-G had 23:29.

Western Buckeye League

Kenton 51, Celina 28

KENTON – Air Kenton was too much for Celina at Kenton.

Kenton quarterback Blaine Huston completed 22 of 30 for 371 yards and six TDs to power the Kenton attack.

Jayden Cornell was Huston’s top target, as he had 10 receptions for 267 yards and four TDs. Cornell also led the ground game with five carries for 39 yards.

Celina’s Cooper Jones completed 18 of 32 for 141 yards and one TD.

Celina’s Jaxson Silliman had 19 carries for 171 yards and two TDs.

Kenton led 18-7 at the half and 37-14 after three quarters.

Kenton is 2-1, while Celina is 1-2. All games are in the WBL.

Van Wert 34, Wapakoneta 0

WAPAKONETA – Van Wert’s defense held Wapakoneta to 218 total yards and 12 first downs in a shutout at Wapakoneta.

Van Wert had 478 total yards with 303 coming in the air.

Cougars quarterback Owen Treece completed 24 of 27 passes for 294 yards. He threw one TD. Treece also ran for 68 yards on 12 carries with three TDs.

Nate Jackson had six carries for 67 yards with one TD for Van Wert.

Van Wert’s Dru Johnson had seven receptions for 114 yards.

Wapak’s Jace Mullen had 11 carries for 61 yards

Wapak’s Trevor Crow completed 2 of 7 passes for 10 yards.

Van Wert is 3-0, while Wapak is 0-3.

The Cougars led 21-0 at the half and 34-0 after three quarters.

Shawnee 7, Defiance 0

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Tommy Spyker scored the game’s only touchdown on an 8-yard third quarter run.

Northwest Conference

Columbus Grove 30, Allen East 21

HARROD – Columbus Grove quarterback Blake Reynolds completed 14 of 28 passes for 249 yards to lead the Bulldogs over Allen East at Harrod.

Reynolds threw one TD.

On the ground, the Bulldogs’ Colin Metzger had 28 carries for 108 yards and one TD.

Columbus Groves Gabe Clement caught nine passes for 171 yards and one TD.

Allen East quarterback Tyler Clum completed 23 of 38 passes for 242 yards and one TD. Clum ran for 41 yards on 13 carries.

Columbus Grove led 20-14 at the half and 23-21 after three quarters.

Reynolds’ 3-yard TD run pushed the Grove lead to 30-21 with 12 minutes to go.

Columbus Grove is 3-0, while Allen East is 2-1.

Crestview 42, Delphos Jefferson 6

CONVOY – Crestview led 28-0 at the half and cruised to a victory over Delphos Jefferson at Crestview.

The Knights pounded out 433 yards on the ground to do the bulk of the damage.

Crestview is 2-1, all in the NWC. Jefferson is 0-3, all in the NWC.

Crestview’s Brody Brecht had 15 carries for 195 yards and two TDs. He had TD runs of 6 and 14 yards.

His teammate, Logan Gerardo had 10 carries for 190 yards. He had TD runs of 85 and 7 yards.

The Knights’ Jayden Ward completed 2 of 6 for 40 yards, with both receptions to Gerardot. Ward also had two TDs rushing.

For the Wildcats, Colin Bailey had 12 carries for 49 yards and one TD. He completed 10 of 20 passes for 122 yards.

Bluffton 48, Ada 38

Bluffton’s Nate Schaadt had two TD runs and threw a pair of touchdown passes. Ada’s Brandon Hull had a trio of touchdown runs and a pair of TD throws.

NWC pairings

The pairings for the first round of the Northwest Conference championship tournament have been announced. All games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Friday with Ada at Spencerville, Paulding at Allen East, Delphos Jefferson at Columbus Grove and Bluff-ton at Crestview. The Ada-Spencerville and Paulding-Allen East winners will meet in the semifinals and the Jefferson-Grove and Bluffton-Crestview winners will play in the other semifinal

Midwest Athletic Conference

Coldwater 51, Fort Recovery 37

COLDWATER – Coldwater moved to 3-0 with a balanced-attack victory over Fort Recovery at Coldwater.

The Cavaliers had 292 yards rushing and 158 passing.

Coldwater led 21-14 after the first quarter and 38-14 at the half.

Coldwater’s Myles Blasingame had 19 carries for 128 yards and one TD. Zach McKibben had seven carries for 63 yards and two TDs.

Blasingame completed 9 of 15 passes for 147 yards. He threw three TDs.

Fort Recovery (1-2) was pace on offense by Derek Jutte, who carried 13 times for 110 yards and two TDs

Clay Schmitz completed 13 of 26 for 217 yards. He threw two TDs.

Anna 34, Parkway 33

ANNA – Anna outscored Parkway 13-0 in the final quarter to post a come-from-behind win over Parkway at Anna.

Parkway led 27-14 at the half and 33-21 after three quarters.

Anna’s Brandon Axe scored on a 5-yard TD run with 37 seconds left to push Anna ahead 34-33.

Anna is 1-2. Parkway is 0-3.

Parkway had 321 total yards, with 199 coming on the ground.

Anna had 318 total yards, with 135 on the ground.

Anna’s Kohlten Carey completed 10 of 20 passes for 144 yards with two TDs.

Axe finished with eight carries for 45 yards and two TDs. Hunter Schmidt had 13 carries for 45 yards.

Parkway quarterback Eliajah Rich completed 10 of 23 for 122 yards. He threw three TDs. Rich also had 88 yards rushing on 10 carries.

DOLA – Hardin Northern led 28-0 at the half and pulled away from Ridgemont in the second half at Hardin Northern.

Hardin Northern is 2-1. Ridgemont is 0-3.

Hardin Northern’s Owen Wetherill had nine carries for 126 yards. He also had three receptions for 81 yards.

Wetherill had 5 TDs, two on the ground (6, 38) and two in the air (28, 49). He had a 40-yard interception for a TD to cap off the final score of the night.

The Polar Bears’ Colby Curtis had 11 carries for 54 yards.

Hardin Northern quarterback Nevin Robson completed 6 of 14 passes for 153 yards.
