Roundup: St. Marys tops Wapakoneta in overtime

ST. MARYS – St. Marys’ Aiden Hinkle bulled over from the 1-yard line in overtime to give St. Marys a 14-7 victory over rival Wapakoneta in a Western Buckeye League game at St. Marys.

St. Marys rushed for 210 yards and held Wapakoneta to 135 yards on the ground to post the overtime win.

St. Marys is 2-0. Wapak is 0-2.

The game was scoreless at the half before St. Marys took a 7-0 lead in the third quarter. Wapak tied the game at 7 in the fourth quarter.

For St. Marys, Hinkle had 22 carries for 90 yards with one TD. Ethan Wedding had nine carries for 38 yards and one TD.

Wapak was led by Connor McDonald, who had 18 carries for 62 yards.

Western Buckeye League

Shawnee 14, Celina 7

CELINA – Shawnee led 14-0 after three quarters and held on to post a victory at Celina.

Shawnee had 213 total yards, with 133 coming on the ground.

Celina had 162 total yards, with 93 on the ground.

Shawnee was led on the ground by Tommy Spkyer, who had 29 carries for 80 yards.

Shawnee quarterback Tyler Windau completed 8 of 11 passes for 80 yards. Windau also had a 1-yard TD run.

Luke Cowan had a 1-yard TD run for Shawnee with 1:36 left in the third quarter to give Shawnee a 14-7 lead.

Celina’s Cooper Jones had 15 carries for 46 yards with one TD.

Both teams are 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the WBL.

Van Wert 56, Defiance 20

VAN WERT — Owen Treece had a pair of touchdown runs and three TD throws to Dru Johnson.

Bath 21, Kenton 14

KENTON — Ian Armentrout had a pair of TD runs and Bradyn Fleherty had a scoring pass to Blaine Albright for Bath. Blaine Huston had TD passes to Zac Swaney and Jayden Cornell for Kenton.

Non-League

Lima Central Catholic 35,

Newark Licking Valley 13

NEWARK — Lima Central Catholic’s Rossi Moore and Shaun Thomas both had two TDs on the ground in a victory at Licking Valley.

LCC is 2-0 on the season.

Thomas added a third TD on an 80-yard interception return. Thomas ran for TDs of 1 and 14 yards.

Moore had TD runs of 1 and 5 yards.

Thomas had 11 carries for 93 yards. He added three catches for 70 yards.

Moore had 13 carries for 63 yards.

The T-Birds rushed for 232 yards. Licking Valley ran for 182 yards

LCC quarterback Evan Unruh completed 7 of 11 for 101 yards. He ran for 34 yards on five carries.

Northwest Conference

Allen East 46, Bluffton 22

BLUFFTON – Allen East’s high-power spread offense, led by quarterback Tyler Clum, was too much for Bluffton as the Mustangs rolled at Bluffton.

Clum accounted for six TDs on the night. He completed 23 of 32 passes for 291 yards with four TDs. Clum also ran for 50 yards, on 10 carries, with two TDs.

Allen East racked up 446 total yards, with 94 on the ground. Bluffton had 396 total yards, with 247 on the ground.

Allen East wide receiver Bradden Crumrine had six receptions for 150 yards with two TDs. Jacob Hershberger had four catches for 63 yards and one TD.

Mustangs middle linebacker Blake Hershberger had 16 tackles.

For Bluffton, Nate Schaadt had 17 carries for 84 yards. In the air, Schaadt completed 8 of 17 for 120 yards and one TD.

The Pirates’ Tyson Shutler had 10 carries for 84 yards with two TDs.

Allen East is 2-0, while Bluffton is 0-2. All games are NWC games.

Crestview 38, Paulding 14

PAULDING – Crestview led 28-8 at the half and cruised to a victory at Paulding

Crestview fullback Brody Brecht had 17 carries for 135 yards and three TDs.

The Knights’ Logan Gerardo had 12 carries for 73 yards and one TD. Gerardo also had four catches for 74 yards and one TD.

Rontae Jackson added a 50-yard TD reception for the Knights.

Crestview quarterback Jayden Ward completed 7 of 12 for 153 yards and two TDs.

For Paulding, quarterback Payton Beckman completed 13 of 22 for 119 yards and two TDs. He also had six carries for 66 yards and one TD.

Both teams are 1-1.

Spencerville 41, Delphos Jefferson 8

DELPHOS – Spencerville lifted its record to 2-0 with a convincing run-happy victory over Delphos Jefferson (0-2) at Stadium Park.

Spencerville had 492 yards with 440 coming on the ground. Delphos Jefferson had 145 total yards, with 90 on the ground.

The Bearcats led 20-0 at the half and 34-8 after three quarters

The Bearcats’ Gunner Grigsby had 22 carries for 187 yards. He had TD runs of 12 and 35 yards.

In the air, Spencerville’s Dalty Prichard completed 4 of 6 for 52 yards.

Jefferson’s Colin Bailey had 16 carries for 50 yards. He completed 3 of 10 for 51 yards.

Midwest Athletic Conference

Coldwater 49, Minster 14

MINSTER – Coldwater moved to 2-0 with a convincing victory at Minster.

The Cavaliers scored 35 points in the second quarter to take a 42-7 lead into halftime. That kicked in the running clock for the second half.

The Cavs had 511 total yards, with 309 rushing.

Minster (0-2) had 239 total yards, with 115 rushing.

Coldwater quarterback Myles Blasingame completed 11 of 14 for 185 yards and four TDs. He also had 14 carries for 115 yards and one TD.

Minster quarterback Johnny Nixon completed 13 of 25 for 124 yards and one TD.

Minster’s Conner Albers had 16 carries for 70 yards with one TD.

Fort Recovery 43 Parkway 6

ROCKFORD – Fort Recovery quarterback Clay Schmitz completed 11 of 17 passes for 244 yards and three TDs to power the Indians to a victory at Parkway.

Owen Moorman had eight carries for 40 yards with one TD for the Indians.

Fort Recovery’s Gavin Thobe had three catches for 94 yard with one TD. Regan Martin had three receptions for 92 yards with a TD.

Parkway quarterback Elijah Rich completed 8 of 14 for 96 yards and one TD.

Both teams are 1-1, all in the MAC.

St. Henry 44, Anna 13

ST. HENRY — Owen Lefeld rushed 15 times for 127 yards and three touchdowns, K.J. Jacobs had a pair of TD runs and returned an interception for another score and teammate Bryce Brookhart had a TD throw to Bennett Gels.

Marion Local 21, New Bremen 13

MARIA STEIN — Carson Griesdorn had a pair of TD passes to Peyton Otte and Drew Seitz had a touchdown run for Marion Local. New Bremen’s Trevor Bergman caught a TD pass from Mitchell Hayes, who also returned a fumble for another score.

Northwest Central Conference

Perry 56, Crestline 13

PERRY TOWNSHIP – Perry ran out to a 24-0 first-quarter lead and had little trouble steamrolling Crestline in a non-league game at Perry

Perry quarterback Ryan Yingst completed 9 of 16 passes for 129 yards and two TDs.

Perry running back J.T. Taviano had nine carries for 126 yards with TD runs of 4, 15 and 75 yards.

Perry’s Davares Glenn had two catches for 57 yards. He had TD catches of 26 and 31 yards.

Crestline’s Enyce Sewell had five carries for 68 yards and one TD.

Perry (2-0) led 32-0 at the half and 38-0 after three quarters.

Hardin Northern 48, Ridgedale 18

MORAL – Hardin Northern pounded out 220 yards on the ground to pull away from Ridgedale.

The Polar Bears led 27-6 at the half and it didn’t get any closer in the second half.

Hardin Northern’s Owen Wetherill had seven carries for 108 yards and three total TDs. He had two catches for 62 yards.

Hardin Northern is 1-1.

Elgin 60, Upper Scioto Valley 18

MARION — USV’s Kayden Hurley threw TD passes to Connor Sanders, Jackson Rohrs and Tristan Fisher.

Blanchard Valley Conference

Arlington 36, Pandora-Gilboa 35

PANDORA – Arlington held on in the final seconds to post a victory over Pandora-Gilboa.

Arlington took a 36-29 lead with 54 seconds to go on a 56-yard TD run by Noah Thibaut.

P-G came right back to get within 36-35 with 10 seconds left on an 8-yard TD pass from Silas Schmenk to Bryce Basinger.

The Rockets then went for the win on a two-point conversion pass, but the pass was incomplete.

That closed the scoring at 36-35, Arlington.

Arlington led 22-14 at the half and the game was tied at 22 after three quarters.

Both teams had over 300 yards in total offense. Arlington had 334 yards, with 285 on the ground. P-G had 374 yards, with 77 on the ground.

P-G’s Schmenk completed 25 of 44 for 297 yards. He threw five TDs and had two interceptions. Schmenk also had 12 carries for 41 yards.

Basinger had 11 receptions for 146 yards and two TDs.

For Arlington, Connor Foust had 13 carries for 103 yards and one TD. Thibaut had eight carries for 91 yards and one TD.

North Baltimore 16 Cory-Rawson 7

RAWSON – North Baltimore held Cory-Rawson to 109 total yards in a victory at Cory-Rawson.

North Baltimore led 7-0 at the half and 13-7 after three quarters.

All of Cory-Rawson’s yards came on the ground. Hunter Stauffer had eight carries for 57 yards to lead the Hornets. He also scored the team’s only TD on an interception return.

SIDNEY — Sam Anspach led New Knoxville with a 46 at par 36 Shelby Oaks. Jackson Center’s Carson Regula was medalist with a 41.

Rhenn Armey had a pair of goals and teammates Westin Okuley and Wyatt Davis had a single tally each. Mason Rieman had Miller City’s goal.
