WAPAKONETA — Doug Davis has resigned as Wapakoneta High School’s boys basketball coach after five seasons in that job.

The Redskins had an overall record of 72-48, including a 21-win season in 2016-17, during those five seasons.

“It was just the right time. Then, with all the uncertainty from the virus, that was the tipping point,” Davis said on Tuesday.

He has a career record of 244-216 in 20 seasons as a head coach – 10 at Bath, five at Delphos Jefferson and five at Wapakoneta.

Bath was Division II regional runner-up in 2013 and 2014 and lost to the eventual state champion in the regional championship game both of those years. The 2013 team won the Wildcats’ first Western Buckeye League championship in boys basketball since 1970.
