Roundup: Coldwater wins state in boys bowling

COLUMBUS — Coldwater claimed the Division II state boys championship Friday at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.

The Cavaliers defeated Fairport Harding 194-188, 230-160 and 199-172 in the championship match.

Michael Schoenherr led Coldwater in qualifying with a 668 series, good for 10th individually. Teammate Caleb Sutherin was 29th with a 598 total. New Bremen’s Alig Spencer was eighth with a 683 total. Keaton Bruns (581), Matt Meinerding (565) and Trent Berkenstock (two-game 427) also were among those competing for Coldwater, which qualified fourth for the eight team championship round.

Arlington 31

OTTAWA — Kalida’s Abby Wurth scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Grace Klausing added 12 points and snared nine caroms. Cloe Crist scored nine points for Arlington. Kalida will face Columbus Grove today at 7 p.m. in Ottawa.

Ottoville 57,

Continental 19

VAN WERT — Ottoville’s William Miller scored 15 points and Ryan Suever added 11 points. For Continental Mitchell Coleman and Reed Warnament both scored 4 points.

Ottoville (20-3) will face Putnam County rival Kalida (17-7) at Elida at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Kalida 44,

Lincolnview 41

VAN WERT — Kalida’s Luke Erhart scored 16 points and Evan Roebke added 14 points. For Lincolnview, Collin Overholt scored 14 points and Jake Bowersock and Creed Jessee each added 10 points.

Lincolnview finishes its season with a 12-12 mark.

Parkway 63,

Upper Scioto Valley 39

COLDWATER — Upper Scioto Valley’s Quinn Sanders scored 12 points. Parkway (16-7) advances to the districts and will play Minster (15-8) at Wapakoneta at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Upper Scioto Valley ends its season with a 17-7 mark.

Perry 42

COLDWATER — Justin Nixon had 18 points and 11 rebounds and Jacob Salazar scored eight for Minster. Chazz Jackson had 17 points and Brayden Knight scored 13 for Perry, which ends its season at 17-7.

Coldwater 61,

Liberty-Benton 55

MILLER CITY — Coldwater’s Myles Blasingame scored 17 points and Noah Miller added 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Ethan Post produced 12 points. For Liberty-Benton, (15-8) Ben Spiees scored 23 points nd Marcuellus Eckford added 10 points.

Coldwater (11-12) advances to the district semifinals and will play at Lima Senior Friday at 8 p.m.

Defiance 46,

Wapakoneta 35

PAULDING — Wapakoneta’s Trey Ware scored 15 points. The Redskins end their season with a 8-16 mark. Defiance (16-7) advances to play Bryan (16-7) at Ohio Northern University at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.

St. Marys 39

PAULDING — St. Marys’ Ethan Steger scored 17 points and Jack Cisco added 11 points. St. Marys ends its year with a 19-4 mark.

New Bremen 54,

St. Henry 45 (OT)

ST. MARYS — Nolan Bornhorst scored 19 points and Dave Homan added 13 for New Bremen (14-10), which plays Marion Local (12-12), a 32-30 winner against Fort Recovery (16-7), at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday. Ben Evers scored 17 for St. Henry (11-13).

Cory-Rawson 41

FOSTORIA — Carey (13-10) beats Cory-Rawson finishes its season at 7-16.

Lima Senior

The Lima Senior game against Toledo Waite in the Division I sectional start time has been moved from 2:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. today at Fostoria.
