Roundup: Coach Quincey Simpson sets Lima Senior wins mark

LIMA — Quincey Simpson passed Jim Romey for the most boys varsity basketball coaching wins in Lima Senior history Tuesday night in the Spartans’ 68-62 Three Rivers Athletic Conference triumph against Toledo Central Catholic.

Josiah Fulcher had 19 points and Da’san Clair scored 12 for Lima Senior (18-3, 13-0 TRAC) in giving Simpson his 120th career varsity victory at the school. Central Catholic fell to 14-7 overall and 9-4 in the conference.

LIMA — Biggz Johnson had 31 points and Rossy Moore and Rodney Bennett scored 11 and 10 respectively for Lima Central Catholic. Owen Treece had 16 points and Jack Hilleary scored 13 for Van Wert.

CONTINENTAL — Walker Macke had 17 points and Austin Miller scored 11 for P-G. Mitchell Coleman had 13 points and Rhenn Armey scored nine for the hosts.

WAPAKONETA — Alex Eyink (19), Nathan Ungruhn (14) and Bruce Moeller (12) each scored in double digits for the visiting Flyers (9-12). Noah Ambos had 13 points and Garrett Siefring scored 10 for the Redskins (7-14).

Shawnee, Grove

Shawnee and Columbus Grove, each 21-0, finished No. 1 Divisions II and IV respectively in the final Associated Press state poll of sports writers and broadcasters.

The Indians received seven out of a possible 14 first-place votes and the Bulldogs 11 out of a possible 14.

Ottawa-Glandorf (20-1) finished second in t D-III, receiving two first-place votes.

MIDDLE POINT — Kate Leichty had 16 points and had four assists, Riley Rismiller had 10 points and 11 rebounds. Lauren Gilliland scored 8 and Annelise Harlamert had six points and eight rebounds for Coldwater (10-13), which will play Paulding at 6:15 p.m. Saturday at Lincolnview.

Hicksville 49, Allen East 32

BLUFFTON — Tori Newland had 13 points and Ellie Richardson scored nine for Allen East (5-18). Hicksville (10-13) will play Ottawa-Glandorf (21-1) at 6:15 p.m. Saturday at Bluffton High School.

Spencerville 53, Van Buren 46

MIDDLE POINT — Nelaya Burden reached 1,000 career points as the Bearcats (15-8) advanced to play Fairview at 8 p.m. Saturday at Lincolnview. No other information was reported about this game.

PAULDING — Lana Carey (18), Brianna Ebel (13) and Jordan Decker (10) each scored in double digits for the Lancers (5-18), who will play Ottoville (13-9) at 6:15 p.m. Saturday at Paulding.

ST. MARYS — The Panthers (7-16) advanced to play Minster (17-5) at 6:15 p.m. Saturday at St. Marys.
