Roundup: Bath triumphs against Spencerville

BATH TOWNSHIP — The host Wildcats got their first win of the season with a 63-56 double overtime boys high school basketball victory Saturday night against Spencerville.

Derrick Grigsby, Carter Parlapiano and Ian Armentrout each had 12 points for Bath. Dalton Prichard had 14 points and Josh Henline scored 12 for the Bearcats.

Ayersville 49,

CONTINENTAL — Gavin Huff had 14 points and Mitchell Coleman scored eight for Continental.

Clay 69, Elida 61 (OT)

ELIDA — Dylan Buetner (16), Isaac Manley (14), Riley Fricke (12) and Devon Barnett (10) each scored in double digits for the host Bulldogs.

Bluffton 47,

Fort Jennings 25

FORT JENNINGS — Mason Soper had 18 points and Luke Denecker scored 11 for the visiting Pirates. Evan Horstman had 14 points and Nick Trentman scored seven for the Musketeers.

KALIDA — Luke Erhart had 15 points and Gabe Hovest scored 10 for the host Wildcats.

DOLA — Nevin Robson had 25 points, 12 rebounds and three steals, Luke Wilson had 19 points and three steals, Ewan Martin had 12 points and six rebounds and Owen Wetherill had seven steals for Hardin Northern (6-6).

ANNA — Carter Ontrop had 10 points and Riley Link scored nine for the visiting Redskins.

Fort Loramie 50, Minster 45

FORT LORAMIE — Jacob Salazar had 15 points and Justin Nixon scored 12 for the visiting Wildcats.

New Bremen 48, Covington 47

NEW BREMEN — The Cardinals outscored Covington 19-7 in the fourth quarter to earn the victory. Nolon Barnhorst had 22 points and Reece Busse scored 11 for New Bremen.

VAN WERT — Owen Treece had 30 points and Jake Hilleary scored nine for the host Cougars. Alex Eyink had 16 points and Charlie Huelsman scored 14 for the Flyers.

CELINA — Ethan Post had 19 points and five rebounds, Jake Hemmelgarn had 15 points and three assists and Noah Miller had 11 points, eight rebounds and three assists for the visiting Cavaliers.

LIMA — Tya Bell scored the University of Northwestern Ohio’s final points on a pair of 3’s in overtime.

Bell finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Tori Lennartz had 30 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and four assists, Jada Haines scored 15 and Kimyra McGhee had 13 points and 11 rebounds also for the Racers (6-12, 3-6 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference).

Muskingum 58,

Ohio Northern 55

NEW CONCORD — Ohio Northern, led by a career-high 16 points, seven rebounds, and four steals from Abby Weeks, wiped away a 10-point third-quarter deficit to lead by five in the fourth quarter, but ultimately fell to Muskingum on a Olivia Lang 3-pointer with 2.1 seconds remaining at Performance Court.

The Polar Bears (10-3 overall, 4-2 Ohio Athletic Conference), trailing 58-55 with 2.1 seconds left, advanced the ball via a timeout. Weeks found Emily Brock for a 3-point attempt, but the shot didn’t go.

Wapakoneta grad Lexi Jacobs added nine points for ONU.

Hanover 62,

HANOVER, Ind. — Brianna Gillig had 17 points and 13 rebounds and TJ Mills had 10 points and four assists for the visiting Beavers.

Men’s basketball

UNOH 66,

UM-Dearborn 65

LIMA — Down four with 25 seconds remaining, UNOH (4-14, 1-9 WHAC) scored the final five points of the game, including a layup with 7.6 seconds left by Lima Senior grad Elijah Pughsley , to pull out a victory against No. 21 UM-Dearborn (13-6, 6-3 WHAC).

Nathan Lessing led the Racers with 22 points while Pughsley added 18. Alex Cluff scored nine off the bench and Zach Montes chipped in five assists and nine rebounds also for the Racers.

Hanover 63,

Bluffton 44

HANOVER, Ind. — Bath graduate Andrew Renner had 13 points, Ronnie James scored nine and Isaiah Taylor had eight points and eight rebounds for the visiting Beavers.

Ohio Northern 72,

Muskingum 66

ADA — Brandon Waugh had 17 points and seven rebounds and Landen Long (17), C.J. Napier (13) and Elida grad Austin Allemeier (11) each scored in double digits for ONU (5-8, 1-5 OAC).
