Shawnee goes to 11-0 in boys basketball

WAPAKONETA — The Indians moved to 11-0 overall and 3-0 in the Western Buckeye League with a 59-43 boys high school basketball victory Friday night against the Redskins (3-7, 0-3 WBL).

George Mangas (22), John Barker (14) and Tyson Elwer (13) each scored in double digits for Shawnee. Noah Ambos had 15 points and Trey Ware scored 14 for Wapak.

VAN WERT — Ethan Steger (20), LeTrey Williams (18) and Austin Parks (12) each scored in double digits for the visiting Roughriders (8-2, 2-1 WBL). Owen Treece had 20 points for the Cougars (2-7, 1-2 WBL)

SPENCERVILLE — Biggz Johnson and Meshaud Moore each had 18 points and Evan Unruh scored 10 for Lima Central Catholic (6-5). Josh Henline had 13 points and Dalton Prichard scored 12 for the host Bearcats.

BLUFFTON — Mason Soper (25), Jared Piercefield (18) and Luke Denecker (13) each scored in double digits for the host Pirates (9-1, 3-0 Northwest Conference). Blake McGarvey had 25 points and Payton Beckman scored 11 for the Panthers (2-8, 1-2 NWC).

HARROD — Carson Kreischer (18), Kalen Etzler (15) and Kaden Short (14) each scored in double digits for Crestview (4-7, 1-2 NWC). Logan McCluer had 17 points and Keaton Lehman and Mason Dotson each scored 10 for Allen East (4-8, 0-3 NWC).

COLDWATER — The Cavaliers withstood being outscored 17-13 in the fourth quarter to earn the victory. Noah Miller had 11 points and Myles Blasingame scored 10 for Coldwater (4-6, 0-3 MAC). Justin Nixon had 14 points and Jacob Salazar scored 10 for Minster (8-3, 1-2 Midwest Athletic Conference).

DELPHOS — The Wildcats survived being outscored 27-15 in the final period. Trent Teman and Doug Long Jr. each had 11 points and Hunter Mericle scored 10 for Jefferson (4-7, 2-0 NWC). Brandon Hull had 30 points for Ada (5-7, 1-2 NWC).

ELIDA — Josh Rasawehr and Quinn Andrew each had 11 points for Celina (1-9, 1-2 WBL). Dylan Buetner (13), Riley Creps (12) and Isaac Manley (10) each scored in double digits for Elida (5-6, 1-2 WBL).

KALIDA — Evan Roebke had 12 points and Zach VonderEmbse scored 10 for the host Wildcats (6-5) in the Putnam County League opener for each team. Evan Hoersten had seven points and Carson Kazee scored six for the Musketeers (1-10).

WAYNESFIELD — Jayden Elliot and Layton Campbell each had 11 points and Isaiah Sanders scored 10 for W-G (3-8, 1-2 NWCC).

to play for OSU

MIDDLE POINT — Lincolnview’s Landon Price has committed to play for Ohio State University.

“I’m absolutely proud to announce that I am furthering my academic and athletic career with a commitment to The Ohio State University,” Price posted on Twitter. “In playing the game of baseball over the past 12 years there have been many ups and downs. Moving forward, I expect those very same challenges, good and bad, to remain. I am excited to continue to compete.”

He was named second team all-Northwest Conference last season.
