Roundup: All-WBL honors handed out in volleyball, boys soccer

The Western Buckeye League has announced its all-league selections in boys soccer and volleyball

Shawnee’s Carter Jensen was named WBL player of the year in boys soccer.

Joining Jensen on the first team were Brenton Block (Bath), Josh Kuehne (Celina), Caden Highley (Celina), Draek Littler (Elida), Ethan Thomas (Elida), Patrick Barlett (Kenton), Reed Cook (Kenton), Ethan Alt (Ottawa-Glandorf), Correy Nelson (St. Marys), Adam Tobin (St. Marys), Jacob Miller (Shawnee) and Austin Miller (Shawnee).

Members of the second team were Nathan Wilson (Celina), Trey Ware (Wapakoneta), Landon Hoehn (Shawnee), Jack Frasier (Shawnee), Carter Schaaf (Shawnee), Max Mielke (St. Marys), Garrett Croy (Ottawa-Glandorf), Johny Wiggins (Bath), Brent Rader (Kenton), Preston Wilson (St. Marys), Preston Layman (Elida) and KP Miller (Kenton).

Third team honors went to Zach Garza (Bath), Jaden Jones (Celina), Noah Crigger (Defiance), Tyler Long (Elida), Bryce Ellis (Kenton), Derek Crumrine (Ottawa-Glandorf), Austin Hertenstein (St. Marys), Andy Vogel (St. Marys), Zach Chambers (Shawnee), Damien Zeigler (Shawnee) and Graham Kneer (Wapakoneta).

In volleyball, Ottawa-Glandorf’s Taylor Alt (player of the year) and Amber Gerdeman (coach of the year:) received to honors.

Joining Alt on the first team were Samantha Carlin (Celina), Janelle Bryant (Defiance), Rachel Mitchell (Elida), Claire Eiden (Ottawa-Glandorf), Kelsey Fischbach (Shawnee) and Makenzie Wilson (Wapakoneta).

Second team selections went to Mallory Clark (Bath), Kaylee Brashear (Defiance), Kylie Vorhees (Elida), Erica Annesser (Ottawa-Glandorf), Trinity Gearing (Shawnee) and Jamison Clouse (Van Wert).

Third team members were Rose McGohan (Celina), Victoria Vukadinovich (Defiance), Erin Kaufman (Ottawa-Glandorf), Claire Bertke (St. Marys), Karrington Green (Shawnee) and Kaylei Barnett (Wapak).

Lima Senior’s Sophie Jolliff (second team) and Lexi Williams and Cheyanne Bean (each honorable mention) received recognition in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference. St. Ursula’s Hannah Best was selected conference player of the year and coach of the year honors went to Toledo Central Catholic’s Sam Sarikkisan.

BRYAN — The Roughriders fell 25-16, 25-20, 26-24. Claire Bertke and Karsyn McGlothen had six kills each, Leah Walter had five kills and eight digs, Cherissa Priddy had 18 digs, Abbie Young had 10 digs and 10 assists and Cora Rable had eight digs and 10 assists for the Roughriders.

Maumee 3, Shawnee 0

BRYAN — The Indians lost 25-12, 25-23, 25-16. Kelsey Fischbach had 21 assists, four blocks and 15 digs, Karrington Green had 16 digs and eight kills, Trinity Gearing had seven blocks and Paige Maxwell had 15 digs for Shawnee.

DEFIANCE — The Bulldogs fell 27-25, 20-25, 18-25, 25-23, 15-12.

NEW BREMEN — The Wildcats won 25-13, 25-19, 25-19, advancing to play New Bremen at 5:30 p.m. Monday in a district semifinal at Bluffton University. Emily Stubbs had 16 digs, Ivy Wolf had 10 kills and 13 digs, Josie Winner had 10 kills and Kaitlyn Wolf had 33 assists for Minster.

NEW KNOXVILLE — The Flyers won 25-16, 25-14, 25-21, advancing to play New Knoxville at 7 p.m. Monday in a district semifinal at Bluffton University.

Kinsey Thobe had 10 kills, Heidi Rethman had 26 assists and seven digs, Brooke Homan had nine kills and Alana Pohlman had six aces for Marion Local.

Kylie Stackhouse had nine kills, Skyler Scoles had 15 assists, Taylor Schwab had seven digs and seven kills and Cara Young had seven digs for Bluffton.

Crestview 3, Parkway 1

ST. HENRY — The Knights won 22-25, 25-13, 25-21, 25-18, advancing to play St. Henry at 5:30 p.m. Monday in a district semifinal at Kalida.

Lexi Gregory had 16 kills and 19 digs, Laci McCoy had 12 kills and five blocks and Maddy Lamb had 38 assists for Crestview.

LCC 3, Lincolnview 1

FORT RECOVERY — The Thunderbirds won 25-18, 27-25, 21-25, 26-24, advancing to play Fort Recovery at 7 p.m. Monday in a district semifinal at Kalida. Jocelyn Morrisey had 14 kills and 24 digs, Hannah Riepenhoff had 41 assists and Victoria Lauck had 26 digs for Lima Central Catholic.

New Bremen 3, Kalida 0

NEW BREMEN — The Cardinals won 25-13, 25-8, 25-15, advancing to play Minster at 5:30 p.m. Monday in a district semifinal at Bluffton University. Brooke Vennekotter had five kills, nine assists and nine digs, Carlee Recker had seven digs and Grace Klausing had kills and eight digs for Kalida.

NEW KNOXVILLE — The Rangers won 25-6, 25-10, 25-11, advancing to play Marion Local at 7 p.m. Monday in a district semifinal at Bluffton University. Haley Fledderjohann had 15 digs, Carly Fledderjohann had 32 assists and Ellie Gabel had 12 kills for New Knoxville. Megan Miller had eight kills, Alex Jackson had four kills and Renee Newton had four kills, four digs and four blocks for Hardin Northern.

FORT RECOVERY — The Indians won 25-17, 25-4, 25-11, advancing to play LCC at 7 p.m. Monday in a district semifinal at Kalida. Brooke Kahlig 11 digs, Kierra Wendel had 10 aces, six assists and 12 digs, Chloe Showalter had five aces and 10 assists, Paige Fortkamp had 12 kills and Hope Wendel had 16 assists and 12 digs for Fort Recovery.

LEIPSIC — The Vikings won 25-11, 25-9, 25-11, advancing to play Edgerton, a 25-9, 19-25, 21-25, 25-8, 15-9 winner against Ayersville, at 5:30 p.m. Monday in a district semifinal at Napoleon.

Lyndie Hazelton had 20 assists, five aces and seven digs, Liz Scheckelhoff had 14 kills and Brooke Brown had 17 digs for Leipsic.

MILLER CITY — The Wildcats won 25-22, 25-11, 25-19, advancing to play West Unity Hilltop, a 23-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-14 winner against Ottawa Hills, at 7 p.m. Monday in a district semifinal at Napoleon. Sofie van Wezel had nine kills and 11 blocks, Abi Lammers had 10 kills and 17 digs, Abi Teders had six kills, Adrienne Kuhlman had 25 assists and eight blocks, Cayla Troyer had 13 digs and Kate Kuhlman had 12 blocks for Miller City.

ST. HENRY — The Redskins won 25-11, 25-11, 25-7, advancing to play Crestview at 5:30 p.m. Monday in a district semifinal at Kalida.

ST. MARYS — The Titans advanced to play Shawnee at 5 p.m. Monday in district semifinals at Elida. Derek Crumrine had a goal and an assist, Mitch Schroeder had a goal and Ethan Alt had an assist and 13 saves in goal for O-G. Spencer Trogdlon had St. Marys’ goal off an assist by Kyle Steininger. Teammate Correy Nelson had eight saves in goal.

Celina 1, Bath 0

CELINA — The Bulldogs advanced to play Kenton in a 7 p.m. Monday district semifinal at Elida.

Kenton 3, Wapakoneta 0

KENTON — Bryce Ellis, Nick Anderson and Reed Cook each had a goal for the Wildcats, who will play Celina in a 7 p.m. district semifinal at Elida.

SPENCERVILLE — The Bearcats advanced to play Lima Central Catholic, which defeated Ottoville 2-1 in a shootout, at 5 p.m. Tuesday in a district semifinal at Ottoville. The goal information for the matches was not reported.

KALIDA — The Wildcats advanced to play Coldwater at 7 p.m. Tuesday in a district semifinal at Ottoville. Mya Schmitz had the match’s only goal and teammate Bailey White made four saves to earn the shutout in goal. Allen East’s Taylor McGraw and Emma Tobe each made three saves.

COLDWATER — Ava Giere, Brianna Keller and Megan Sigler had Coldwater’s goals. Grove goal scorer was not reported.

FINDLAY — Liberty-Benton advanced to play Bluffton at 5 p.m. Tuesday in a district semifinal at Findlay High School.

BLUFFTON — Laykin Garmatter and Lauren Rhodes each had a goal for Bluffton, which also scored on an own goal. Julia Mehaffie had four saves in earning the shutout in goal.

LIBERTY CENTER — The Titans advanced to play Swanton, a 6-0 winner against Miller City, at 5 p.m. Tuesday in a district semifinal at Evergreen High School in Metamora. Kelsey Erford and Clary Beach had two goals each, Lauren Siefker had a single tally and an assist and Ella Okuley and Alexa Fortman each had an assist for O-G (8-9-1)
