COLUMBUS — Lima Central is in a tie for first place after the first day of the state Division II girls state golf tournament at The Ohio State University Gray Course.
The Thunderbirds shot a 318 total along with Alliance Marlington. Zoarville Tuscarawas Valley (334) is third followed by Kettering Archbishop Alter (340), Huron (343), Youngstown Cardinal Mooney (345), Shaker Heights Laurel (346), Benjamin Logan (347), St. Henry (352), Williamsport Westfall (355), Columbus School for Girls (358) and Shelby (372).
Mary Kelly Mulcahy led the way for LCC, which won the state title last year, with a 3-over-par 73, putting her in a tie for eighth place individually with St. Henry’s Ellen Naumann. The T-Birds’ Erin Mulcahy shot a 77 to be tied for 14th. Bridget Mulcahy and Carlie VanMeter each shot 84 and Emma Mayers finished with a 92 also for LCC.
Kalida’s Grace Miller, playing as an individual, shot an 80 to be tied for 18th.
Callie Hemmelgarn (88), Claire Clune (93), Alana Siefring (98) and Gwyn Elking (105) also competed for St. Henry.
The championship concludes today at the same venue.
