TIFFIN — Elida claimed the team title at Tuesday’s Division I boys golf sectional at the par 72 Mohawk Golf & Country Club.
Co-medalist Ethan Harmon (77), Gavin Harmon (81), Carson Harmon (82) and Hunter Jolliff (83) combined for a 323 total.
St. Marys also advanced to district play as Reese Sweigart (81), Cole Koenig (82), Austin Boley (83) and Andrew Moore (94) teamed up for a third-place score of 340.
Shawnee’s Justin Altenbach (82) and Wapakoneta’s Clay Wilsey (86) each advanced as individuals. Celina’s Nate Boley (99) and Lima Senior’s Noah Edwards (105) had the low rounds for their respective schools. Tyler Sabo for runner-up Ashland also shot a 77. The district will be held Oct. 10 at Sycamore Springs.

MILLER CITY — Ezra Dietring had a goal and three assists and Nick Gable, Daniel Siebeneck, Mason Rieman and Ashton Thome had one tally each for Miller City. Luke McCullough had Paulding’s goal.

SPENCERVILLE — Bryce Wilcox had the match’s only goal as Allen East improved to 6-6-1 overall and 3-0 in the Northwest Conference. Eneko Iribarren made seven saves in earning the shutout in goal. His Spencerville counterpart Dominic Adkins had 10 saves.

Sophia Fusillo had two goals and Tessa Jordan and Claire Huff had one tally each as Shawnee moved to 10-3-2 overall and 6-0-2 in the Western Buckeye League. Kaelan Swallow made seven saves to earn the shutout in goal. Elida (5-8-2) fell to 1-5-2 in league matches.

Chandler Clark had five goals, Ainsley Miller had three tallies and Lexi Renner, Madelyn Renner, Macey Hoehn and Alexis Hammons each had a goal. Kyla Bailey had the shutout in goal.

The Bearcats closed out Northwest Conference play at 6-0 Monday night. Spencerville’s goal scorers were not reported.

OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The University of Northwestern Ohio (613) finished second behind Indiana Tech (591) at the two-round Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Jamboree No. 2 played at the Twin Lakes Golf Club.
Three Racers placed in the top 10, led by Natalia Quintero, who tied with Indiana Tech’s Carissa Graft for medalist honors with a two-round score of 146 after shooting a 72 Tuesday. Devaki Ganesh tied for fourth with a 149, and Hastha Rajendran was seventh at 151.

PALM HARBOR, Fla. — UNOH (935) finished 16th in the three-round The Invite at Innisbrook at the Innisbrook Resort. Coastal Georgia (873) was the team champ.
Gonzalo Garcia-Parada led the way for UNOH as he tied for 21st with a three-round total of 224, including a 72 Tuesday.

in national poll
ADA — Ohio Northern moved up three spots to No. 12 in the fifth weekly American Volleyball Coaches Association Poll.
The Polar Bears (12-3 overall, 1-0 Ohio Athletic Conference) received 1,021 points, 215 more than in the fourth weekly poll when ONU was ranked No. 15.
Emory (Georgia) remained in the top spot with 1,914 points and 58 first place votes. Calvin (Michigan) is second with 1,868 points and nine first place votes and Chicago is third with 1,776 points and nine first place votes.
ADA — Ohio Northern senior linebacker Mark Niles has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his efforts in Ohio Northern’s 45-35 victory against Otterbein.
Niles tied a career-high with 15 tackles, had two sacks, three tackles for losses and a pass broken up in the contest.
He was also named the Ohio Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
