Roundup: Columbus Grove’s Schneider has record receiving night

Columbus Grove 47, Paulding 9

PAULDING — Alex Schneider set a Columbus Grove school receiving record in leading the Bulldogs over the Paulding Panthers in Northwest Conference action Friday night.

Schneider had 196 yards receiving (on six grabs) to set a new school mark and added three touchdowns: of 54, 61 and one yard; from quarterback Blake Reynolds. Reynolds was 7-of-8 passing for 198 yards and added an 8-yard scoring run. Colin Metzger ran for two scores, both from two yards, and Rece Verhoff added a 38-yard field goal. Grove also had a safety.

Caleb Manz caught an 8-yard scoring pass from Payton Beckman and also registered a safety for the Panthers.

Kenton 13, Wapakoneta 10

KENTON — Kenton scored a touchdown with 1:55 left in the game to rally by Wapkaoneta in Western Buckeye League action.

The Wildcats trailed the Redskins 10-0 before coming back, scoring on a 59-yard connection from Blaine Huston to Jaydone Cornell late in the fourth period. Huston also scored on a 19-yard run in the second period as Huston was 16-of-24 passing for 211 yards.

Reed Mericle, who finished with 112 yards on 21 carries for the Redskins, scored on a 6-yard run and Payne Harshbarger added a 42-yard field goal.

Ottawa-Glandorf 35, Van Wert 28 (OT)

VAN WERT — Ottawa-Glandorf scored a touchdown in overtime to get past Van Wert in a WBL clash.

Jacob Balbaugh found Jarrod Beach from six yards to give the Titans the win. He added a 68-yard TD pass to Brennan Blevins and finished 15-of-25 passing for 207 yards. Clayton Recker ran 23 times for 112 yards and a 29-yard score, while Beach added a 22-yard rushing score and Eric Heebsh one from 37 yards.

Owen Treece paced Van Wert with 18-of-29 passing for 162 yards and scores to Jake Hilleary (10 yards) and Dru Johnson (17), while rushing 19 times for 147 yards. Hilleary added 27 carries for 101 yards and scores from 10 and one yards.

McComb 30, Pandora-Gilboa 14

MCCOMB — McComb scored 14 points in the fourth period to pull away from a close game and down Pandora-Gilboa in Blanchard Valley Conference activity.

Aaron Davis led the Panthers with 20 rushes for 194 yards and two scores: from 73 and 45 yards. Jacob Dillon tacked on two rushing scores from three and two yards and Logan Kepling added a 28-yard field goal.

Silas Schmenk went 11-of-26 passing for the Rockets and two scores: a 30-yarder to Austin MIller and a 60-yarder to Bryce Basinger.

St. Marys 28, Shawnee 9

ST. MARYS — St. Marys used its ground game to knock off Shawnee in a Western Buckeye League game.

The Roughriders used Aiden Hinkle to rush for 171 yards on 39 carries and three scores: from one, two and four yards; as well as a 1-yard scoring run from Kurt Bubp. All told, they ran for 287 yards on 67 rushes.

The Indians scored on a 11-yard TD toss from John Barker to Jacob Vorhees and a Vorhees field goal. Barker was 16-of-27 passing for 176 yards.

Toledo Central Catholic 34,

Lima Senior 0

TOLEDO - Toledo Central Catholic’s defense made life miserable for Lima Senior, holding the Spartans to 27 total yards of offense in a Three Rivers Athletic Conference contest.

The Spartans were held to 6 rushing yards and 21 passing as EJ Cameron was 4-of-20 passing for those 21 yards.

Riverdale 21, Cory-Rawson 14

MT. CORY — Max Morris threw for two scores in pacing Riverdale to a Blanchard Valley Conference victory over Cory-Rawson.

Morris was 9-of-21 passing for 178 yards and the scores to Lane Morris (54 yards) and Luke Morris (5). Max Morris added a 3-yard scoring run. Lane Morris caught three passes for 112 yards.

Deontae Davis ran for 131 yards on 19 tries and a 58-yard score. Tommy Stauffer added a 3-yard score.

Perry 24, Hardin Northern 13

DOLA — Perry fell behind in the first period but rallied for a West Central Ohio Conference triumph over Hardin Northern.

The Commodores received two passing scores from Ryan Yingst: 11 and 23 yards to Chazz Jackson, as well as a 1-yard run from Yingst and a 2-yard run from Camren Dalton. Yingst ran 11 times for 114 yards and was 10-of-15 passing for 167 yards.

Scoring for the Polar Bears were Owen Wetherill with a 3-yard run and a 37-yard TD toss from Daylin Pees to Nevin Robson.

Ada 74, Delphos Jefferson 70

DELPHOS — Ada and Delphos Jefferson compiled 1,241 yards of total offense as the Bulldogs outscored the Wildcats in a Northwest Conference contest.

Leading the Bulldogs, who had 766 yards of offense, was Brandon Hull, who was 21-of-29 passing for 365 yards and five scores: 62 yards to Keagan Hull, 25, one and 56 yards to Zac Swaney and 29 yards to Daniel Mattson. Hull added 28 rushes for 240 yards and three scores: six, 70 and 10 yards, and Keagan Hull added 14 rushes for 141 yards and two scores: 74 and 40 yards.

For the Wildcats, JT Taviano, who amassed 288 yards rushing on 30 totes and five scores: from one, 47, 28, 60 and 30 yards. Logan Hubert was 10-of-22 passing for 158 yards and four scores: 62 yards to Tanner Matthewson, seven to Colin Bailey, 12 to Tanner Vorhees and 12 to Logan Herron. Bailey returned a kickoff 78 yards for another tally.

St. Marys 28, Shawnee 9

The Cavaliers used a balanced offense to amass 419 yards yards, led by 33 rushes for 288 yards and four touchdowns: a 2-yard run by Myles Blasingame, a 33-yarder by Nathan Grieshop, a 15-yarder by Jake Hemmelgarn and a 16-yarder by Isaac Fullenkamp. Hemmelgarn threw an 8-yard TD toss to Ethan Post and a 33-yarder to Zach McKibben. Hemmelgarn ran 12 times for 111 yards and was 8-of-13 passing for 131 yards.

Clay Scmitz had a 1-yard scoring run for the Indians, while Derek Jutte had an 80-yard run and Clay Schmitz a 9-yard toss to Gavin Thobe.

Minster 39, Parkway 7

ROCKFORD - Jacob Niemeyer passed for three scores and added another rushing as Minster downed Parkway in the Midwest Athletic Conference.

Niemeyer was 10-of-12 passing for 212 yards and TDs to Bryan Falk (14 yards) and Trent Roetgerman (17 and 98) and added an 88-yard run. Alex Schmitmeyer ran 16 times for 168 yards and two scores: 35 and eight yards.

Liam Ferroggiaro ran in a 53-yard score for the Panthers.

Crestview 41, Bluffton 21

BLUFFTON — Crestview’s Brody Brecht ran 24 times for 276 yards and four touchdowns as the Knights grabbed a Northwest Conference win over Bluffton.

Brecht’s scores were from 10, 36, five and 36 yards. Caylin Pruett added a 19-yard score and Kaden Short a 33-yarder.

The Pirates received an 8-of-20 passing night by Nate Schaadt and scores of 61 yards to Tyson Shutler and nine to Baylor Garmatter. Shutler added a 68-yard scoring run and caught five passes for 120 yards.

Defiance 28, Elida 20

ELIDA — Elida scored in the first period but Defiance came back for a Western Buckeye League victory.

Both teams had 215 yards of offense.

Leading Defiance was Aaron Cruz with a 5-yard scoring run and a 9-yard touchdown pass to Caden Kline. Marcel Freund added a 5-yard scoring run and Noah Hageman an 8-yarder.

Marcel Poe had two rushing scores for Elida, both from one yard. Devon Barnett added a 15-yard TD toss to KeShawn Spivey.

Celina 26, Bath 21

BATH TOWNSHIP — Cooper Jones ran for three touchdowns and threw for another in leading Celina past Bath in the Western Buckeye League.

For the Bulldogs, Jones ran 11 times for 136 yards and scores of one, four and 37 yards. He was 14-of-19 passing for 101 yards and a 30-yard score to Collin Harris.

For the Wildcats, Dallin McDermott was 8-of-16 passing for 151 yards and scores of 25 yards to Trey Johnson and 24 to Zach Simpson. Johnson added a 3-yard scoring run.

Leipsic 54, Arcadia 14

LEIPSIC — Leipsic dominated with the running game in a Blanchard Valley Conference downing of Arcadia.

The Vikings had 38 times for 319 yards as Cole Williamson ran for a pair of scores: from 10 and three yards. Drew Liffick had two TD passes: 22 yards to Pena and seven yards to Fabian Pena. Pena added a 6-yard scoring run, Juan Pena a 25-yarder and Lorenzo Walther and Caleb Ellerbrock each a 2-yarder.

Arcadia received a 40-yard TD run by Caleb Rader and a 7-yard TD pass from Tristan Martinez to Josh Cassell.

McComb 30, Pandora-Gilboa 14

MCCOMB — McComb outgained Pandora-Gilboa 428-262 in a Blanchard Valley Conference win.

Aaron Davis led the Panthers with 20 rushes for 194 yards and a pair of scores: 73 and 45 yards. Jacob Dillon added a pair of rushing scores from three and two yards and Logan Kepling added a 28-yard field goal.

Dalton Davis had two goals and Will Miller and Kyle Mann had a single tally each. Kaiden Trentman got the shutout in goal.

Bluffton 1

TIFFIN — Bluffton team traveled to Heidelberg University for a non-conference matchup with HCAC foe Mount St. Joseph. The Beavers dropped a 25-23, 25-22, 25-18 match to the Lions on the opening day of the No One Fights Alone Invitational. Bluffton slipped to 2-14 on the season, while the Lions upped their season mark to 11-4.

Remi Bower powered the Bluffton offense with 13 kills. Carley Lester and Sarah Heydinger knocked down seven and six winners, respectively. Lester was also in on three blocks.

Noel Ufferman dished out 12 assists, while teammate Elle Price chipped in 11 helpers. Ottawa-Glandorf graduate Brooke Kleman had 26 digs also for Bluffton.

Brandon DeCoursey had the goal for the Beavers (4-5).
