Roundup: Lima Senior defeats Temple Christian in volleyball

Lima Senior triumphed 25-18, 25-17, 25-17 against Temple Christian in volleyball Tuesday night.

Lexi Williams had seven kills and nine digs, Mya Redd had six kills, Lauren Zell had 18 assists and five aces and Aleah Julien had seven digs for Lima Senior.

Emma White had four aces and four kills, Lindsey Stump had four aces and eight digs, Cecelia Worsham had five kills and six digs, Kaylee Linhart and nine assists and nine digs and Jessica Holoway had 12 digs for Temple Christian.

Lincolnview 3, Bluffton 0

The Lancers won 25-20, 25-22, 25-23. Taylor Schwab had 14 kills and 13 digs, Kylie Stackhouse had 12 kills, Skyler Scoles had 32 assists and Joscelin Reineke had 21 digs for Bluffton.

Columbus Grove 3,

Spencerville 0

The Bulldogs won 25-16, 25-22, 25-19. Angel Schneider had five kills, Cassie Heilman had five kills and five total blocks, Meghan Blankemeyer had five kills and Sara Dipnarine had five kills, Alyna Ricker had three aces and six digs, Abigail Gladwell had six digs and Becca Choi had 17 assists for Grove.

LCC 3, Ada 0

The Thunderbirds won 25-19, 25-22, 25-14. Kennedy Parker had nine kills and three aces, Jocelyn Morrisey had nine kills and 17 digs, Rosie Williams had nine kills and three blocks, Hannah Riepenhoff had 30 assists and Victoria Lauck had three aces for Lima Central Catholic.

Megan Light had 10 kills, 11 digs and six blocks, Miranda Wills had seven digs, Kirsten Poling had 12 assists and seven digs and Kendal Guagent had 18 digs for Ada.

The Panthers won 16-25, 25-6, 25-19, 25-19. Sadie Estle had four aces, nine kills, four blocks and six digs, Leigha Egnor had eight kills, nine assists and seven digs, Jalynn Parrett had five aces and 10 digs and Claire Schweller had 12 assists for Paulding. Kristin Whitley had 11 kills, Anamya Truex had six kills, Emilee Truex had four blocks and Madie Treglia had 10 digs and five aces for Allen East.

KALIDA — Miller City won 25-10, 25-10, 25-10. Abi Lammers ahd eight kills and eight digs, Sofie van Wezel had six kills and five digs, Abi Teders had six kills, Adrienne Kuhlman had 24 assists and eight digs and Cayla Troyer had 13 digs for Miller City. Lydia Vorst had three kills, Grace Klausing had three kills and five assists, Carlee Recker had eight digs and Brooke Vennekotter had six digs for Kalida.

NEW KNOXVILLE — Braelin Houston had three goals and Allen East’s Malachi Blackma and New Knoxville’s Patrick Covert each had a single tally. Allen East’s Eneko Iribarren had five saves in goal.

Adam Tobin, Kyle Steininger, Gavin Lininger and Adam Tobin each had a goal for St. Marys. Max Mielke had three assists. Elida’s goal scorers were not reported by deadline.

OTTAWA — Austin Miller had the game’s lone goal and teammate Landon Hoche got the shutout in goal. O-G goalie Ethan Alt made 14 saves.

ONU 3, Muskingham 2

ADA — No. 15-ranked Ohio Northern rallied past No. 25 Muskingum 25-20, 11-25, 28-30, 25-19, 15-9 in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears (11-3 overall, 1-0 OAC) got a season-high 21 kills from senior All-American Chelsea Huppert and a season-high 16 kills from senior McKenna Jordan in the come-from-behind victory.

The Muskies (13-2, 0-1) had four players in double figures in kills, led by Brooke Featheree with 18.

The victory marks the 26th consecutive season that ONU won its OAC opener.

Denison 3, Bluffton 1

GRANVILLE — Bluffton University slugged it out with Denison in a four-set thriller. Three sets were decided by two points apiece as the Big Red moved to 9-5 following their hard-fought victory (29-27, 25-21, 23-25, 25-23).

Junior Remi Bower hammered away with a career-high 23 kills against just six errors for a red-hot .298 hitting percentage. Sarah Heydinger was just one kill away from her career best with 13 putaways. Sophomore Cassidy Posey (Paulding) was in on four blocks.

Doling out a career-high 38 assists was freshman Noel Ufferman who also got it done defensively with a career-high 17 digs. Sophomore Brooke Kleman (Ottawa-Glandorf) picked up a team-high 20 digs, while Chelsey Taylor chipped in with 11 of her own. Freshman Courtney Weekley fired three aces for the Beavers.
