BLUFFTON — Bluffton won the Northwest Conference boys golf tournament Thursday at the par 72 Bluffton Golf Club with a 340 team score.
The first-place tournament finish also clinched the overall 2019 conference golf championship for the Pirates, who went 14-0 in league matches.
Delphos Jefferson (358) finished second in the tournament followed by Allen East (366)m Paulding (372), Columbus Grove (374), Llincolnview (395), Ada (404) and Crestview (414).
Bluffton’s Drew Wilson was medalist with an 81. Kenny Lovett (84), Jared Piercefield (85) and Micah Minnig (90) also contributed to the winning team total.
Columbus Grove’s Owen Macke finished second in the individual standings with an 82. Delphos Jefferson’s Logan Gallmeier also shot 84 to tie Lovett for third place. Allen East’s Carter Frey (85), Paulding’s Kolson Egnor (89), Lincolnview’s Grant Glossett (93), Crestview’s Dillon Underwood (94) and Ada’s Brevin Sizemore (95) had the low rounds for their respective schools.
The tournament results were were combined with regular season standings to determine the final standings for the year. Bluffton took first place with a perfect 16 points. Allen East finished second (13) with Paulding and Jefferson tying for third (11 each). Lincolnview was fifth (8) followed by Columbus Grove (7), Ada (4) and Crestview.
The NWC also presented its all-conference awards.
His counterparts selected Bluffton’s Mason Roth as the Coach of the Year. Wilson earned player of the year honors by virtue of points earned during each regular season match and the season-ending tournament. Wilson was joined on the NWC first team by Frey, Egnor, Gallmeier, Allen East’s Zach Miller, Lovett and Jefferson’s Braxton Scalf.
