WAPAKONETA — Ashland won the team title Saturday at the Wapakoneta girls tennis tournament.

Lima Central Catholic was second, Wapak was third and Shawnee fourth.

LCC’s Olivia Kesner won the singles crown.

LCC’s Morgan Chaney and Paige Brinkman (B doubles) and Wapak’s Ellie Schroer and Abbie Metzger (C doubles) also won titles in the season-opening competition.

Van West 5, Archbold 0

ARCHBOLD — Singles players Grace Lott, Alli Morrow and Lizzie Rutkowski and the doubles teams of Paige Moonshower and Allie Etter and Kaylee Jennings and Jada Buckner all won matches in the season opener for the Cougars.

TOLEDO — Lima Central Central (321), the 2018 Division II state champion, finished second to last year’s D-I state champ New Albany (291) at the par-71 South Toledo Golf Club.

Notre Dame (360), Lexington (370) and Oak Harbor (382) also were among the top five in the 11-team event.

Mary Kelly Mulcahy (72), Erin Mulcahy (74), Bridget Mulcahy (86) and Emma Mayers (89) combined for LCC’s score. New Albany’s Amanda Ritter was medalist with a 69.

PICKERINGTON — Lima Central Catholic finished ninth out of 19 teams Friday at Turnberry Golf Course from the par 72 Orange tees.

LCC’s Mary Kelly Mulcahy shot 73 for the third lowest score behind New Albany’s Madison Spiess and Upper Arlington’s Emily Hummer, who each shot 71. Erin Mulcahy and Bridget Mulcahy shot 80 and 96 respectively. The Thunderbirds’ Emma Mayers and Carlie VanMeter each finished with a 99.

Lincolnview low round

Evan Miller had a 41 for Lincolnview’s low round in its tri match with Paulding and Columbus Grove. The incorrect Lincolnview player was identified as having the Lancers’ low round in Saturday’s area roundup.
