2018 postseason: Won Celina Lynx Golf Club sectional; second at Sycamore Spring Golf Course district; won state championship on Ohio State University Golf Club’s Gray Course.

Coach’s analysis: It’s difficult to win a state championship but to go back-to-back is even more difficult. The team returns three members from last year’s championship team. If the younger players step-up to the challenge, the team should end its season in Columbus.

Other possible varsity performers: Chloe Kroeger, fr.; Rachel Ryan, fr.

2018 NWC finish: Tied for first at conference invitational

2018 postseason: Ninth at Celina Lynx Golf Club sectional.

Coach’s analysis: The 2018 Lady Cats took big steps in only their second year of the program’s existence. The team went 18-9 in dual/tri matches, were runners-up in the Willow Bend Invitational, and were co-champs of the NWC tournament after upsetting a very good Bluffton team. The Lady Cats have a ton of experience returning for the upcoming season. The team will be led by Sydnie McGue. She has been the two-time NWC runner-up, and we are looking for a big year from her. Following McGue are five letter-winning juniors that are all capible of being our top golfer on any given day. Anna Fitch, Riley Smith, Kaylee Buzard, Alivia Carpenter and Emma Muller along with newcomers Rachel Ryan and Chloe Kroeger will all compete to be in the mix. The team has set its goals to win the NWC again and advance out of the very tough Celina Lynx Division II sectional. With the work this team can definately acheive these goals, and we are all expecting a great season.

Lincolnview

Division II

Coach: Brad Doidge (25th season)

Returning letter winners: Shiann Kraft, sr.; Winter Boroff, jr.; Aryonna Hoghe, soph.; Adalee Purk, soph.

Other possible varsity performers: Dylann Carey, jr.; Tori Boyd, sr.

2018 NWC finish: Conference invitational co-champs

2018 postseason: 11th at Celina Lynx Golf Club sectional.

Coach’s analysis: With our returning core, the Lady Lancers are looking to compete in the top half of all tournaments. They have been NWC tournament championship the past four out of five years and want to continue the trend.

Other possible varsity performers: Paige Bihn, soph.

2018 MAC finish: Sixth overall; 2-6 MAC record; sixth in conference tournament.

2018 postseason: Seventh at Celina Lynx Golf Club sectional.

Coach’s analysis: Young team with no seniors but five returning letter winners. Jalyn Bruns is coming off a nice freshman season where she made first team all-MAC. Shelby Stammen and Alli Vaughn have lettered for two years and should provide some needed leadership and experience.

Marion Local

Division II

2018 MAC finish: Ninth overall; 0-8 MAC record; ninth in conference tournament.

2018 postseason: 13th at Celina Lynx Golf Club sectional.

Minster

Division II

Coach: Deb Ahrns (17th season)

Returning letter winners: Layne Voisard, soph.

Other possible varsity performers: Jenna Heuker, jr.; Kate Larger, jr.; Maria Dirksen, jr.; Cora Heitkamp, soph.

2018 MAC finish: Eighth overall; 1-7 MAC record; seventh in conference tournament.

2018 postseason: 10th at Celina Lynx Golf Club sectional (Taylor Homan advanced to district as individual); Homan finished 18th at Sycamore Springs Golf Course.

Coach’s analysis: The Lady Wildcats will face many changes for the 2019 season. With the departure of MAC Player of the Year Taylor Homan, the Wildcats will turn their sights on sophomore Layne Voisard who earned her varsity letter as a freshman and has spent time in the preseason participating in golf camps to elevate her game. Layne has a solid long game and is a very confident putter so both of these strengths will serve her well in the number one position. Layne also serves as the team captain. Layne will be joined by fellow sophomore Claire Lamm, starting her second season as a Wildcat and along with playing golf Claire also participates in softball and in band so competition is not something new to her. Claire’s strength is in her short game, and I am sure she will depend on that aspect of her game to put her in solid scoring position. The sophomores will be joined by four very enthusiastic juniors who also participated in other sports and have elected to give golf a try. These ladies can be found three days a week at the golf course practice facilities working on building their golf skills in all areas. Just as the rules of bolf have changed for 2019, so have many faces in the Wildcat lineup. The new rules have been implemented to speed up play and simplify the game. I am confident these new golfers, with their passion to learn the game, will do well. The outlook for 2019 may find the Lady Wildcats making one small movie up in the MAC standings but 2020 will certainly find the Wildcats making one giant leap in the MAC.

New Bremen

Division II

Coach: Mike Holdren (ninth season)

Returning letter winners: Sarah Parker, sr.; Cassie Stachler, sr.; Lauren Miller, sr.; Alli Wilker, sr.

Other possible varsity performers: Emma Bambauer, soph.; Megan Ritter, fr.; Allison Hay,s fr.

2018 MAC finish: Tied for second overall; 7-1 MAC record; third in conference tournament.

2018 postseason: Fourth at Celina Lynx Golf Club sectional (Sara Parker advanced to district as individual); Parker finished tied for 20th at Sycamore Springs district.

Coach’s analysis: We lost three very good golfers to graduation and are rebuilding our roster around a good core of seniors. Sarah Parker was a district qualifier last year after shooting 82 at sectionals. She will be one of the best players in the league along with Ellen Naumann of St. Henry. St Henry and Versailles will be strong in the MAC along with Minster rebounding from a down year.

Parkway

2018 postseason: Seventh at Country Acres Golf Course sectional.
