Roundup: Wilcoxon has low round in junior golf tournament

SIDNEY — Riley Wilcoxon shot a 1-under-par 71 in claiming the boys 16-18 for the low round during Tuesday’s Lima Junior Golf Association — McDonald’s Junior Series Bob Fridley Junior Tournament at Shelby Oaks Golf Club.

Gavin Harmon was second with a 73.

Ellen Naumann was the girls 16-18 division winner with a 74, two strokes better than runner-up Samantha McLaughlin.

Andrew Moore shot a 79 to win the boys 14-15 championship. Zach Miller’s 81 earned him second.

In the nine-hole par 36 events, Ethan Lukey shot a 39 for the boys 12-13 championship, one shot lower than second place Collin Feathers. Haylee Wurm was the girls 15 and younger champ with a 52. Kayla Nartker shot 55 for second.

Clippers 10, Locos 3

MUSKEGON, Mich. — Randon Jernigan had two hits and an RBI for the Locos, who finished the regular season with a 26-15 record. Lima will play host to Muskegon in its playoff opener at 7:05 p.m. Thursday at Simmons Field.

Soap box derby

AKRON — Lima qualifer Audrey Crite won in the first round of the Local Super Stock division during Saturday’s All-American Soap Box derdy. Crite was then eliminated in the second round with a second-place finish.

Lima qualifier Katelynn Braun finished third in her lone Local Stock race.
