ADULT FITNESS

ARCHERY

Allen County: The Allen County Archers are holding open 3-D shoots the first Saturday and Sunday each month through September. They are open to all archery equipment. The club also holds traditional 3-D shoots on the third Saturday of the month all year long.

BASEBALL

Bluffton: The Bluffton University baseball team will be holding camps for young players wanting to improve their skills this summer.A two-day camp takes place from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, July 8, and Tuesday, July 9, for youth ages 9-13. Cost is $60. Then on Wednesday, July 10, a camp for youth ages 13-15 will be held. This one-day camp costs $30.

Lima: Hitting league registration now open. Apex Sports Zone will be holding machine pitch hitting leagues for both baseball and softball. Four-player teams will compete in a six-week season including five league games and one postseason game. Games are five innings long in Apex’s professional, turfed cages. BASKETBALL

Elida: Registration is underway for the The Dakota Mathias Basketball Camp at the Elida Fieldhouse July 22-23. The camp for kindergarten through fourth grade runs from 8:30 a.m. and from for fifth through ninth graders from noon to 4 p.m. The fee is $115 for kindergarten through fourth grade and $165 for campers fifth through ninth grade. Bluffton: Bluffton Family Recreation announces registration underway for a basketball clinic for sixth to eighth graders July 15-18 from 1 to 3 p.m. The fee is $20 members/$40 program participants. A camp for third to fifth graders will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. July 22-23. The fee is $10 members/$20 program participant. CYCLING

Lima: The 11th Rally Point River Ride will be held Saturday, July 27. Enjoy scenic flat country roads and bike paths that run along the Ottawa River and local creeks! A full-service bicycle tour with swept paths, break stops, fresh lunch, live music, and free massages. Rides cover 62.5/50 miles on flat country roads and 20/10 miles along the Ottawa River. FOOTBALL

Lima: The Western Ohio Football Officials Association and OHSAA Football Instructor, Deron Bailey will hold classes to become a licensed OHSAA football official starting July 15 at Shawnee High School. Kenton: Kenton Youth Football will present its first Never Give Up Camp at Robinson Field, 725 Summit St., Kenton, on Friday, July 26th. Check in will begin at 6:30 p.m.. Camp will start at 7 p.m. The camp will finish at approximately 8:30 P.M. There is not a registration fee for the camp. Donations will be accepted at check in. Donations will go to the Kenton Youth Football Program and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. All participants will receive a free T-Shirt at check in.

GOLF

Lima: The 51st annual Chamber of Commerce golf outing will be held Aug. 7 at Hidden Creek and Colonial Golf Course. The fee for chamber members is $85 per golfer or $340 for a foursome and $95 for non chamber members and 380 for a foursome. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m.

Lima: The 76th Annual Lima Area Women’s Match Play Tournament will be contested August 1-4. The starting times set for 9 a.m. on Thursday at Delphos Country Club and 7:30 a.m. at Shawnee Country Club. For the weekend, 2 p.m. on Saturday at Hidden Creek Golf Club, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Shawnee Country Club. You do not need a USGA handicap to participate and we will try to fulfill pairing request for the qualifying round. The format has changed slightly; two rounds of qualifying play followed by match play (dependent upon entry numbers per flight). . Early entry deadline is July 8, ($55). Bluffton: Bluffton University’s 22nd annual Alumni and Friends Golf Scramble will be held Saturday, July 27, at Bluffton Golf Club. Registration for this event is $90 per golfer or $360 for a complete team of four. This cost includes greens fee, cart and lunch. To attend the lunch only is $10. HORSESHOES

Lima: The Allen County Horseshoe Pitchers, located at 1815 C St., have openings in leagues and doubles. Open doubles begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturdays. Corn hole leagues are forming. KARATE

Lima: The Lima Family YMCA is holding a karate program from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The fee is $30 for members and $60 for nonmembers.

KICKBOXING

Lima: At 7:30 p.m Tuesdays and Thursdays, Apex Sports Zone will have classes for adults and kids 14 and older. Go to lima.apexsportszone.com/kickboxing.

PICKLEBALL

Lima: Pickleball is played at Bradfield Center from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. All skill levels are welcome.

Lima: The Lima YMCA is holding open pickleball play from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday (appointment only). Free for YMCA members and $3 per visit for nonmembers or $20 per month for nonmembers (unlimited play). Individuals can register online at limaymca.net.

Bluffton: The Bluffton Family Recreation will be offering pickleball from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays and from 8:30-10:30a.m. and 5-7 p.m. Thursdays.

RUN/WALK

Delphos: Delphos- The Run For The Kids Of St. Jude’s 5K will be held on Saturday, July 20th at 9 a.m. at Huggy Bear Campground. Cost is only $18 which includes a dri-fit t-shirt and a finisher medal if pre-registered by July 14th. Race day registration is also available beginning at 8 a.m. on the back entertainment stage. Kalida: The fourth annual Running with the Law Sprint Triathlon and 5K Race will be held at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 17 at Four Seasons Park, 18031 Road M. Cridersville: The Cridersville Fireman’s Jamboree 5K will be held is on at 7 p.m. July 12th in Cridersville in conjunction with our Fireman’s Jamboree. Pre-registration fee is $25 due by July 1. Spencerville: The 43rd annual Spencerville All-Comers Cross Country Meet will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday Aug. 15, at Spencerville High School (600 School St, Spencerville, OH 45887).

Six races on a flat grass course. Entry fee is $2 per person. Registration starts at 5 p.m. beside the football field. Races are: 6 p.m., 1 mile boys 13 & under; 6:15 p.m., 1 mile girls 13 & younger; 6:30 p.m. 1 mile male and female ages 14-29, 30-39, 40 & older; 6:40 p.m., 1 mile predicted time run for all ages; 6:55 p.m., female open 5K run for all ages; 7:30 p.m., male open 5K run for all ages. Ribbons to places first through sixth in 1 mile races, in 5K races first through 40th for female places and first through 6oth for male place and to the top six male and female teams. SOFTBALL

Celina: The Grand Lake Fall League registration is taking registrations for the 2019 Fall League. The Fastpitch Softball league will be divided up into four divisions this year: 9th – 12th grade, 6th – 8th grade, 3rd – 5th grade and a travel/pre-assembled division. The league will play double headers on Sundays for five weeks; there are not practices as to avoid any conflicts with fall sports. SOCCER

Lima: Apex Sports Zone is playing host to Advanced Soccer Skills. College level coaches and players will put participants through more advanced soccer training with an emphasis on foot skills, passing, receiving, striking a ball and much more. STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING/FITNESS

TENNIS

The Lima Area Tennis Association city singles, doubles and mixed doubles tournaments at the UNOH Tennis Courts will begin next week.

Doubles is July 19-21 and mixed doubles is July 26-28.

VOLLEYBALL

Lima: The Lima YMCA will be hosting a Volleyball Camp July 22 – 25 from 5 – 7 p.m. Cost is $20 for members, $40 for non members. The camp is for young ladies ages 10 and up and is conducted by former UNOH stand outs Chanel Cantere and Megan Fullenkamp. Register at the Lima Family YMCA or online at limaymca.net.

Bluffton: The Bluffton University volleyball team will host several skills camps this summer. A day camp for sixth through eighth grade students will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Monday, July 29. Basic skills including passing, setting, attacking, defense and serving will be highlighted. Registration is $50 per camper. An overnight camp for high school students will be held July 10-11. Registration is $165 for two days of instruction, meals and overnight accommodations. Bluffton Family Recreation has created Weight Lifting 101 for adults this summer. The class, which involves a weightroom workout, is instructed by Coral Lamb, BFR fitness coach. Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. June 25 to July 18. The class is free for BFR members and $40 for non-members.
