Roundup: Ballas has low round in junior golf tourney

LIMA — Adam Ballas shot a 3-over par 75 for the low 18-hole score of the day in winning the boys 16-18 division Tuesday in the Lima Junior Golf Association McDonald’s Junior Series HeartLight Pharmacy Open at Oaks Golf Club.

Austin Boley finished second with a 76. Grace Miller fired an 82 to win the girls 16-18 crown with Kenadie Daeger a shot back in second. The boys 14-15 winner was Jack Gerker (84). Cole Koenig defeated Zach Miller in a playoff for second after each shot 85.

In the nine-hole competition, Louis Magoto won the boys 12-13 division with a 41. Collin Feathers defeated Troy Watson in a playoff for second after each had a 42.

Kayla Nartker won the girls 15 and younger competition with a 44. Regan Ross was second with a 49. Damo Watson shot 35 to win the Peewee (11 & younger) division, two shots better than runner-up Sullivan Hasting.

Minster tops Wapakoneta

MINSTER — Gabe Phillips had three hits and six RBI, AJ Heitkamp had a pair of hits and Dylan Sharp had a hit and two RBI as the hosts defeated Wapakoneta 10-1 in ACME baseball. Winning pitcher Logan Tumbusch and Eric Schmidt combined to allow no earned runs, four hits and five walks while striking out four in seven innings. Eric Carpenter had a hit and an RBI for Wapak.

Elsewhere, winning pitcher Jaxson Buddelmeyer and Nate Maag combined to allow no earned runs, a hit and six walks while striking out eight in seven innings as Ottawa-Glandorf defeated Elida 5-1. Maag also had a pair of hits and Trey Nienberg knocked in two runs.
