Roundup: Lima Senior’s Dugan selected 1st team All-TRAC

Lima Senior infielder Caleb Dugan has been named first team All-Three Rivers Athletic Conference in baseball.

Pitcher Bryce Binkley and outfielder Brayden O’Dell from Lima Senior made the second team and James Gaines, Skyler Williams and Ethan Jordan earned honorable mention recognition also for the Spartans.

Toledo Central Catholic’s Jase Bowen (player of the year), and St. Francis de Sales’ Sam Holtz (pitcher of the year) and Tim Gerken (coach of the year) received top league honors.

Lima Senior’s Els Nelson, Riley Davenport and Alivea Buchanan earned honorable mention recognition. Clay’s

Bri Pawlaczyk and St. Ursula’s Morgan Bowers (co-pitchers of the year) and Clay’s Tiffany Stevens (player of the year)

and Brenda Radabaugh (coach of the year) received top conference honors.

Grove wins

Bachman Award

Columbus Grove has won the Northwest Conference’s 2018-19 “Don Bachman Award of Excellence.” This is the fourth time Columbus Grove has accomplished this feat since the establishment of the award in 2005. This award recognizes the school in the conference that exhibits the highest level of consistent excellence in conference-sponsored sports and scholastic bowl competition each school year.

The Bulldogs compiled a total of 87.5 points with Bluffton (80.0) and Crestview (67.5) finishing second and third respectively. Points are awarded and accumulated each year based on conference standings in all sports and the NWC scholastic bowl competition.

The award was started during the 2005-06 school year to honor longtime Northwest Conference commissioner/secretary, Don Bachman, who served in that position for more than 30 years before passing away late in 2005.

This year Columbus Grove earned four outright NWC titles in cross country and track by with the boys and girls teams sweeping those events. In addition, the Bulldogs secured co-championships in volleyball and boys and girls basketball . The conference sponsors 14 sports in addition to the scholastic bowl tournament.

Other NWC champions/co-champions were Ada (academic team), Allen East (wrestling), Bluffton (boys and girls soccer, girls basketball and softball), Crestview (volleyball and boys basketball), Paulding (baseball), Spencerville (golf, football and girls soccer).

The final order of finish for the 2018-19 school year is was: Columbus Grove (87.5), Bluffton (80), Crestview (67.5), Paulding (63.5), Lincolnview (62.5), Spencerville (61), Allen East 59.5, Ada 43.

Assistant hired

at UNOH

LIMA — New University of Northwestern Ohio head coach John McGinty has announced the addition of Jillian Lipman-Segura as an assistant coach.

Lipman-Segura comes to UNOH after two seasons as an assistant coach at Jefferson College, a junior college in Hillsboro, Missouri. Prior to Jefferson, Lipman-Segura served as an graduate assistant for two years at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Lipman-Segura opened her coaching career as an assistant girls varsity and head freshman coach at Hinsdale South High School in Darien, Illinois, for two seasons.

A Chicago native, Lipman-Segura earned four letters in basketball at Queen of Peace High School and played collegiately for four years at Benedictine University. She received her bachelor’s degree in management from Benedictine in 2013 and her master’s in business administration at Carroll in 2017.
