Lima Central Catholic 11, Delphos Jefferson 0

Lima Central Catholic pitcher Jaylen Rhoem fired a one-hitter in five innings of work. The Thunderbird struck out six and walked one. At the plate, LCC’s Kennedy Parker went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI, Mary Kate Dee drove in four runs and Sophia Luchini went 2 for 3 with three RBI. Abby Watkins drove in two runs. For Delphos Jefferson, Noel Warneman had a double.

The Thunderbirds advanced to the sectional final against Wayne Trace Thursday at 5 p.m.

Paulding 10, Allen East 7

PAULDING — Paulding’s Gabbie Stallbaum went 3 for 4 with three runs scored and an RBI and Ashlyn Rice drove in two runs. Haylee Dominque hit a home run and scored three runs. For Allen East, Lakin Bashim hit a home run, going 2 fo4r 4 with two runs scored. Savannah McCloskey went 3 for 4 with a run and an RBI and Sierra Sizemore was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI and one run scored.

Perry 6, Upper Scioto Valley 3

PERRY TOWNSHIP — Perry’s Kasey Wells picked up the win on the mound after going seven innings and surrendering nine hits while walking 1 and striking out nine. At the plate for the Commodores Annabell Plaugher was 1 for 2 with two runs scored and Madi Amstutz was 1 for 2 with one run and one RBI. For USV, Briona Hurley went 3 for 3.

Ft. Recovery 7, Coldwater 2

COLDWATER — Fort Recovery’s Brenna Homan went 3 for 4 with three runs scored and Hannah Knapke hit a home run while going 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. Jackie Homan was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and one run scored and Lydia Wenning went 2 for 4 with an RBI and one run scored. Chloey Grizez drove in three runs. Jackie Homan picked up the win on the mound going seven innings and scattering four hits while striking out five. For Coldwater, Maddie Stienke and Leanne Klenke each drove in a run.

New Bremen 4, Parkway 0

ROCKFORD — New Bremen’s Molly Smith and Erin Smith combined for a two-hitter. The pair struck out three and walked four. At the plate, Cardinal Kelly Naylor had two doubles and drove in two runs and Hannah Tenkman had two doubles and scored two runs. For Parkway, Macy Henkle was 2 for 4 andHenkle struck out 10 Cardinal batters in the losing effort.

Bath 13, Van Wert 4

VAN WERT — Bath’s Kaylee Grant garnered the win on the mound after going the distance and scattering eight hits while fanning seven and walking two. Offensively for Bath, Kennedi Sullivan was 3 for 3 with two runs and 2 RBI and Riley Iiames was 2 for 4 with a run and Kali Armstrong and Emily Rocca each scored three runs. Esther Bolon was 2 for 3 with two runs and an RBI and Hailey Robey was 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI.

Crestview 24, Ottoville 0

OTTOVILLE —Crestview’s Aleigh Chesbro improved to 5-0 after firing a five-inning no hitter. At the plate Crestview’s Lexi Gregory had four hits and six RBI and Bailey Gregory had three hits and two RBI. Chesbro had two hits and one RBI and Codi Miller had two his and one RBI. Liv Cunningham had two hits and an RBI.

Leipsic 14, Cory-Rawson 4

LEIPSIC — Leipsic’s Jala Hazelton went 4 for 5 with 3 RBI and one run and and Maddie Walther was 3 for 4 with two runs and 2 RBI. Liz Scheckelhoff was 2 for 4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI and Caitlen Flick was 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI.

McComb 8, Miller City 0

MILLER CITY — Miller City’s Nicole Ellerbrock had the lone hit.

Lima Senior 7, Bath 2

Lima Senior’s Brayden O’Dell picked up the win after giving up two hits over seven innings of work with 13 strikeouts and three walks. At the plate, Caleb Dugan went 4 for 4 with one RBI and two runs scored. James Gaines was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and Skyler Williams was 2 for 3 with two runs scored.

Lincolnview 3, Parkway 0

ROCKFORD — A trio of Lincolnview pitchers, Gavin Carter, Collin Overholt and Ethan Kemler, combined on a one-hitter. The three combined for 11 strikeouts and no walks. At the plate, Jaden Youtsey was 1 for 3 with a run and an RBI. Nick Riley had the lone hit for Parkway.

St. Marys 4, Marion Local 1

ST. MARYS — A pair of St. Marys pitchers, Braedon Trogdlon and Kurt Bubp, combined on a two hitter. Trogdlon went the first four innings and struck out four while walking one and Bubp pitched the final three frames and struck out three while walking none. At the plate, Clay Quellhorst was 1 for 1 with two runs cored and an RBI. Trey Fisher was 1 for 4 with an RBI.

New Bremen 4, Perry 1

NEW BREMEN — New Bremen’s Spencer Alig fired a complete game, four-hitter while striking out seven and walking one. At the plae, Ryan Bertke had three hits and Mitchell Hayes and two hits. For Perry, Logan Liles had two hits.

Spencerville 4, Ada 1

SPENCERVILLE — Spencerville’s Zach Ringwald fired a complete-game, four-hitter while striking out 10 and walking two. Offensively for the Bearcats Cody Bockey went 2 for 3 with an RBI. For Ada, Austin Amburgey, Dylan East, Ethan Hall and Jaylin Burkhart had hits.

Kalida 10, Ottawa-Glandorf 0

KALIDA — Kalida’s Josh Recker picked up the win after going five innings and yielding three hits. He walked three and struck out one. Offensively for Kalida, Trevor Lambert was 2 for 3 with a double and 3 RBI and Owen Recker was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI. Josh Recker drove in two runs and Luke Erhart was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI. For Ottawa-Glandorf Gabe Hovest was 2 for 2.

Van Wert 14, Paulding 3

VAN WERT — Van Wert’s Jaxson Amweg, who had a triple, went 3 for 4 with four runs scored and 2 RBI. Jake Lautzenheiser also drove in two runs. For Paulding, Jaret Miller went 3 for 3 with a run and an RBI and Evan Edwards was 2 for 3 with one RBI.

Shawnee 5, Lima Central Catholic 1

A trio of Shawnee pitchers, Caden Vermillion, Johnny Caprella and Dalton Miller combined for a three-hitter. The threesome fanned a total of 12 and walked seven. Offensively for the Indians, Justin Behnke went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run and Caprella went 1 for 3 with an RBI. Jake Hutchins was 1 for 3 with an RBI. For LCC Shawn Thomas, Michael Briggs and Dereck Pignataro all had hits.

Coldwater 8, Wapakoneta 4

COLDWATER — Coldwater’s Jacob Wenning earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for the Cavs. He went three innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out four and walking one. Weigel and Will Broering entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Coldwater tallied ten hits. Ross Weigel, Wenning, and Jake Hemmelgarn all had multiple hits for the Cavs.

Versailles 4, St. Henry 1

ST. HENRY — St. Henry’s Sam Lefeld went 2 for 3 and Rylee Deitsch was 2 for 3.

Lehman Catholic 23, Columbus Grove 2

Tennis

Ottawa-Glandorf 5, Ayersville 0

AYERSVILLE — Ottawa-Glandorf got singles wins from Eli Schmenk, Byan Schroeder and Hayden Kuhlman and the doubles teams of Mitchell Schroeder and Alex Gustwiller and the pair of Drew Kuhlman and Nolan Untebrink.

O-G remains unbeaten for the season at 16-0.

Van Wert 5, Lima Central Catholic 0

Van Wert got singles wins from Kannen Wannemacher, Michael Hellman and Micah Rager and doubles wins from the duo of Kaden Thomas and Nathan Ruger and the team of Jace Fast and Nick Carter.

COLLEGE

ONU hires interim men’s soccer coach

ADA — Former Ohio Northern University All-American Chris Matejka has been named the interim head men’s soccer coach at ONU.

Matejka has been an assistant coach for the Polar Bears for the past six seasons after graduating from Ohio Northern with a bachelor’s degree in creative writing in 2013.

The Spencer, Ohio, native played in 96 games as a midfielder from 2009-12. He tallied 19 goals and 24 assists for 62 career points.

Ohio Northern has decided to make a leadership change and has ended its employment relationship with former head coach Brent Ridenour, who served in that role from 1998-2019

The Polar Bears have won eight OAC regular season championships and seven OAC Tournament titles.

A national search for ONU’s next head men’s soccer coach will begin immediately.
